I was pleasantly surprised with it. The people seemed much more real than any others I've seen, perhaps because they seem much closer to 'us' socially. It's got promise.
But they did steal the guns off an ISD. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

I'm curious to see how their going to do it, for the first time they're going back in time for the whole series, which means no fancy technology to get them out of scraps that wasn't seen in ST:TOS or later.
-
No more PSB* plotline resolutions? HOO-RAY!!! That couldn't possibly be anything but a good thing...
[bangs head against keyboard]
But I still missed it... shame I have to work. But I guess eating is good.

There's still treknobabble, but I guess that's a necessity.
Possibly no particle-of-the-week, though. And there's no prime directive. Boo-yah!
-
*shrugs* We'll see it in a few months. Gotta love the profound retardation of the Australian media circuit...
-
Enterprise is better than TOS/DS9/VOY, but TNG still rules! And it'll be finally shown near me again (TNG)!

Sorry, but no, and I doubt it ever will, at least not for a long time. After it's initial run it'll probably go on TNN first, do to the fact that's where all the ST shows other than TOS is going.

I liked it, and Finally they have a HOTT VULCAN BABE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DAMN NETWORK TELEVISION!!!!
-
I liked it alot more than most of the rest of Star Trek shows so far. Although two points that hit me. One...I was rather amused to see that the ship was one I found a render site online 8 months ago showing 6 various renders ...one being the EXACT image at the begining when they first left Earth. lol
The other...call me picky...but TOS was the first Enterprise, prior to the "A" and rest of the line,...since after that ...the movie was the "A" Class...the "B" "C" "D" and now "E",...what the hell is this one? Or would it be concidered different since it's still an experimental design (The NX classifaction)?
But over all...even thou the pulled the "Lets copy star wars and make a prequel" I loved the show...hell once it was over my only thought was "Ya mean I gotta wait another week!!!!???"
And the Vulcan...much more than a babe! Loved that Decon Scene (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

That's just wrong.

Yeah, they kinda screwed up continuity, but seeing as it isn't technically Star Trek: Enterprise, well.... semantics, semantics. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/lol.gif)

Are we talking TOS Klingons or TNG Klingons?

I think it's considered different since it's an NX design.
I was pleased that the only technobabble there was actually relevant (i.e. genetic engineering, transporters, etc.) and it didn't try to "explain it."
The characters seem like they've finally rounded out what they were after in Voyager and DS:9, and it's so far very polished and good.
I just hope that it's not like Voyager, a great begining but quickly turns into regular 'Trek from techno-babble and mostly unrelated plotlines. (Enterprise I've heard has a full story arc, and if so it should work)
My question is if the "temporal cold war" is really 'temporal'... I think it might be a Romulan plot, who else would gain from hurting the Klingons and Vulcans and is that shadowy? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

As the latest in a horde of spinoffs from a mediocre original series (OK, the movies kicked serious *** , but seriously- if you're gonna create dozens of wierd alien races to add novelty to a stale show, couldn't you at least do more than make FOREHEAD RIDGES different?

that was actually the opposite of Voyagers run...
it started out absolutely terrible, but actually started to come together once the characters managed to evolve... and they stopped changing Janeways hair after every episode...

I agree. I though Voyager's first season was really boring (and I'm a Trekker!).

In Enterprise, they plan to be giving all the Star Trek aliens makeovers. Remember those blue aliens with the antenae (Andorians)? Well, they're getting a new improved look (while still keeping the main characteristics). They say don't worry if it doesn't quite match TOS, because this was how Gene Roddenberry originally wanted it to look, but of course the budget and TOS Production's time period (60's) couldn't put this onscreen.

All Enterprise ships after the TOS Enterprise were the A, B, ect. because they (for god knows what reason) coninued to use the same Naval Construction Contract number (1701 BTW) for the commisioning of all vessels to carry the name 'Enterprise'. Otherwise the ships would all have had different contract numbers and would have been Enterprise II, III, IV, ad nausium...
-
I think it started because SF Command had a hidden camera in that shuttle in ST4 and wanted to see the look on Kirk's face...
just j/king.
-
Well correct naming or not I love the ship! Makes me wish I the Star Trek RPG Unicorn Gaming made was still being published!

NX is the designation for experimental. Like in the GTVA it is GTXF, or GVXC and so on.
Did you know that the USS Excelsior's original registry was NX-2000, before it was recomissioned to NCC-2000 after the initial tests of transwarp drive failed (actually it could have originally been NX-01 too - someone find out...).
-
i've got a big long list of problems with it, the biggest being a non-instrumental beggining sequence. go to the VBB to see the list.
-
Hell, I liked the show a lot. There's a lot of potential in it.

I got to see most of it (missed the first 10 min and some other bits here and there), but from what I saw, it was pretty good. With a couple of seasons, it should be damn good, assuming they don't make it like Voyager (which wasn't god awful, but not the best).

I know there is a method, but all I see is madness.

I thought the intro rocked... But I think the show has so much potential that it might not be able to live up to it all...
Oh... And going 30 million kilometers a second at warp 4.4 gets one word from me...
YEEEEEHAAAAA!!!!!!!! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

I'm very glad to hear this but we won't get it on terrestrial TV here for about another 6 flippin years.
Anyways if it's as good as DS9 it'll really kick *** .

Hmm... 1 lightyear is 9.46e15 m = 9.46e12 km = 94 600 000 000 km. 94 600 / 30 = 3153.333.... So that's 3153 seconds to go one lightyear = 52.55 minutes. So it would take 4 * 52.55 min to get to Alpha Centauri = 210.2 minutes. Three and a half hours.
Now, did they mention any travel times in the intro?
-
there not even any word of when its out here =( but i heard it doesn't have shields - how in gods name will they survive without shields this is the star trek universe - shields are a must have or your goign to get your *** seriously whooped
another thing any one notice that the ship looks alot more modern than the original series ship and that the design has more than a passing resembleance to the akira class from the tng and dsn times epriod?
-
Yeah, it's the "Akiraprise" as someone so wittily said.
