FireFox neat plugin. Just found out about it. Install the plugin and you can chat with the people using the same page/server (however it works) they're on.
So it'd really be a Hard Light chatroom if you used it while you browsed HL.
FireFox rules (if you install it though, which you will do when you read this. Get crackin.)
-
Oh yeah, you activate it through "tools" - on and off.
-
Certainly interesting...

<Taristin> teh spam
<Taristin> what does it use as the chat server?
<BlackDove> No freaking idea
<Taristin> and If i browse to another site?
<BlackDove> It however rerouted me from something
<BlackDove> It remains until you shut it off.
<Taristin> hmm
<BlackDove> When you shut it off, then j00 needs to connect again (get back to the site you were on)
<Taristin> ah. that's what that means, then....... i see it all now. >..>
You know, because it's that important.

Erm, how? I don't see anything. Just the usual options. And in the Extensions screen, it gives no on/off function, or even options for the extension.
Nevermind.

Well I installed it (had to tell FireFox to not protect me against it)
Restart FireFox.
Go to "Tools"
Last option there at the dropdown.
That's how it works for me
Nevermind.

Doesn't work with FF 1.04 and I'm too lazy to upgrade right now.

You, sir, have a defective PC if you have a problem running FF
-
Hurrah, it's working. I had to upgrade to Firefox 1.5 though.
-
This plugin makes FF really the w1n browser.
-
it needs more work though
-
Well it's more of a good idea.....

Appears to be down ATM. :doubt:
-
yeah, it's farked / slashdotted / dugg / blown up from all the users. :p Let us know when it's back up, k?
-
Hmmm.. Even the Firefox download site seems to be either borked or overloaded atm....
-
Hooray for b0rked links! :(
-
Seems that the site is back up, but the IRC server must still be down or gonked.
-
Bring on the exploits!
I wonder how well protected the server is? :nervous:
-
I've got it installed... but an error message saying:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: "root@localhost" (Using password: NO) in <b>/var/quickchat/db.php</b> on line <b>2</b><br /> Could not connect to MySQL server!
-
Yeah, the server seems to be down.
-
You're on each other's throats here on the forums and now you want real-time chat? :wtf: This feature is again one of those that are cool for the first 2.5 mins but then you forget it even exists.
-
...Forget what ever exists?
-
Actually I'm kinda glad it was pointed out.. it made me look at the Extensions download page for Firefox where I found the best thing since sliced bread: FasterFox 1.01.
-
There are some pretty good extensions. I just downloaded a few myself.
EDIT: Just downloaded the Bork! Bork! Bork! extension.... now I can view HLP forums in Bork! :D
-
Thankyou Falcon, I've always wanted to learn Swedish. ;)

Good News Everyone! Abe Vigoda is still technically alive... yes.

Ah I get it.... the chat works, it's just that the indicator is down.

Hasn't wrked for me.
BTW; WTF is a Terk Commander?
Oh and look at little Abe smiling. He's still alive. :)
Edit: WTF. That spelling error isn't there now... :wtf:

Strange, three of us in right now.
Just click on the sql error instead of it displaying how many users there are.

I'm looking for the IRC server this thing actually connects to. It isn't server1.quick-chat.net, or at least that doesn't allow mIRC to connect to it.
Is there an app to see what programs are connecting to which IP on which protocol?
-
It was a different server yesterday, that might be something of note.
Yesterday it was something.....else - try see the quote on the first page of this thread - info should be there

Open a command prompt and type netstat -b and you'll get a list of applications and the IP address (with port number) they're connected to.
Just don't do it when you're running something like emule or you'll be there all week. :)
-
By the way, there's six of us in with Derek Smart.
Might want to join in for the fun.
-
Yessssss... come to ussssss.... :nervous:
-
Tried it... nice idea, but need work. A lot of work. For one thing, it doesn't seem to adapt to your resolution, and instead forces the browser to operate in what appears to be a width of 1280px. Which sucks when you're running 1024x768 as you lose the whole right side of the browser window without the ability to scroll you get when your desktop is oversized compared to resolution.
So though the chat worked, I had to uninstall it again... but when they get the bugs worked out, it'll be great :)
-
If anyone is interested, if you point a IRC client at 38.98.129.11, then do join #Hard-light.net, you'll be in the same channel.
-
If this was only available on Opera, I'd be all over it. No Firefox for me, thanks.
-
Yeah, but if it was only avaiable on Opera, nobody would be over it :(
-
lol, I mean If only it was available on opera :D.
-
Well at any rate we had a fun session today, about ten of us ****ing around.
-
Yep, sure did. :D
All of the Dereks decided to join in.
-
Is there an app to see what programs are connecting to which IP on which protocol?
NetLimiter 2 shows which IP addressess or servers programs are connected to, and it's quite useful anyways. Get it, now.
netstat (with parametres) shows what protocols the ports are using and where they are connected. Type netstat /h in command line to get additonal information about parametres, I'm too lazy to translate the information (my windows is Finnish edition, so you wouldn't find much use to it if I copypasted the information here... Just open the command line and type netstat /h or netstat /help or netstat /whatever, and it provides you with a bunch of information.
Though netstat isn't actually an application, it's part of windows system...
-
I already got it, using netstat-b, thanks to Kara. I posted the server IP a few psots up.
Thanks anyway, though.
