The capsule carrying dust particles from the comet Wild 2 returned to Earthe succesfully today. It broke the record for an object of man-made origin entering the atmosphere as well.

I always worry about this kind of stuff. You never know what it's gonna bring with it. Not that I expect comet life forms or anything, but any earth bacteria who survived the trip are things I'd rather not have back on this planet, y'know?

The Andromeda Strain anyone?

I think they put it through decontamination anyways. Plus I'd imagine it to be highly unlikely that any bacteria that somehow found it's way down would be able to survive in Earth, due to evolving in what would likely be an entirely different environment.
Anyways, you can have a look (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4607318.stm) if you want to search for starstuff.
