I have started it on September 3rd, 2004
Stored 163 lwo files of the different modelling stages (1.423MB)
19 Photoshop files for the textures (596MB)
The most layers just was 129 in Pillar of Autumn V145.lwo
Worktime to finished version: hard to tell, with all redos (i have redone some parts of the model countless times) I think about 200 hours (i also had to learn how to paint textures)
The biggest project i have ever finished.
Holy crap. I wish I could model like that.

The Pillar of Autumn doesn't have energy weapons.
HERESY!
-
It looks like a plastic toy and the texture looks nothing like that of the Pillar of Autumn. It's still very impressive.

Quoted for truth.
It really doesn't.

I bet he just recycled the beams from the GOD sat.
But how the hell would you show MAC cannons anyway?
And yeah, the textures are pretty bad, but the highlight is the damn detailed modeling.
All the hull lines, everything that should be modeled is.

Indeed, the engines are completely wrong, and don't look a thing like the model used in the 'cutscenes'. I'm all for artistic liscence, but to change things that much (read:mutilate), it just degrades the quality of the subject matter.

That is one ugly ship...
-
well i think it looks very nice.

the engine lights are blue, anyway, just look at Halo 2 for a reference.

Canon or not, I'm with Carl on this one. I think it's a very nice example of modelling skill.
-
I'm not disputing the skill involved in modelling it. But if you want to model the Pillar of Autumn you should model the Pillar of Autumn and not some bastardised version if it.
Had the description said that this was POAs sister ship I wouldn't complained about it at all.
-
That's fair enough. In all honesty I've not seen what the original POA really looked like. I've not played Halo 2 either.
-
Nor have I. But seeing as how it blew up in Halo 1 I can't see that being that relevant here :)
-
Nice modelin job. Ugly ship..
few, unflexible weapons.
-
Meh, looks ok
-
I thought it was a rifle from the first shot.
