Nice... I like the glows on the ship, and the bg. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
without that, it's bybye ST! Yeah!
-
oh yeah, Enterprise premiers tonight 8:00 to 10:00. I think it's gonna suck, but I've heard some good reviews. Just have to wait and see.
-
CRAP! I'm gonna be at work tonight...
I've been waiting to see if this new series is gonna be another "Deepspace 9" (yea!), or another "Votager" (boo!)
For some reason I just have this gut feeling that it's gonna tank harder than the XFL, but I haven't given up hope yet.
Oh yeah... Nice render MD. It's a shame that TNG never really got as good as it could've been. But at least it didn't completely suck! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/lol.gif)

I bet none of you know where that quote comes from. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) (the quote is in the thread title and the bit under my rendering.) How you could not know, I dunno since its from the greatest movie of all time. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

No, I'm a Trekker. The difference between a Trekkie and a Trekker is that a Trekkie is a fanatic. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) I like Trek, but I'm not obsessed with it. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
btw, the quote is from the movie Dragonheart. (starring Dennis Quaid as Bowen and Sean Connery as Draco.)

At least it wasn't boring and I could watch it again if I was given the opportunity.

Speaking of which, LotR has always interested me - but who can explain the plot? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Actually, I have seent the trailer for that show but I still don't understand it. Something about a ring that was made by Evil or something. This ring is very powerful and sought by both the Good and the Evil.
Other than that, I'm pretty blur.

Sure. Come over to Singapore and we'll catch a movie. Any movie. Because they always show movie trailers before the actual movie. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Rah blaspheme!!!!!!
ok the plot, quicky: it begins in "the hobbit" (a book for childs, but still funny to read). basically a hobbit (small human like creature, smaller than a dwarf and thinner, but very agile, calm people, farmers and so on) finds a ring that turns him invisible. It's a detail in that book, but it's the begining of Lotr. In Lotr, gandalf, a magician, finds out that this ring is the... (harg, I need translation) the unique ring, forged by Sauron, a kind of superpowerful sorcerer, once the best general of Morgoth, ancient evil god slain ages before. Sauron built lots of rings (9 for the humans, 7 for the dwarves, 2 for the elvens) with magical powers, and gave them to the mightiests lords of each species. of course it was a trick, and he had the Unique ring, one that can lead all the other rings (everything that was done thanx to those rings would fall evil, something like that). The whole Lotr story deals with how some heroes try to hide that unique ring Sauron lost (and was found by Bilbo in "the hobbit"), and their attempt to destroy this ring (coz Sauron put a lot of his power in the ring, and makes it incredibly powerful -and really dangerous too for the one who have it, appart from Sauron of course).
Well, now, go find the whole series (Bilbo and the 3 Lotr books), and read them, that's an order!!!
-
Well..borrow the book and read it.
then read the silmarillion.
Theres really too much to explain, but if i had to say one thing - its a book and universe of an amazing level of depth and seems much more beleivable than any other book i ever read.

The book can dude, I highly recommend you read it. It's the only book that's ever given me a buzz. Massive landscapes, brilliant characters and a plot so good that as soon as I finished reading the last page I turned straight to the front and started reading it again (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Here's the actual poem from the book:
Three rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven rings for the Dwarven-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine rings for Mortal Men doomed to die,
And One Ring for the Dark Lord, Upon his dark Throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all. One Ring to find them
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Umm... what? Maybe my sentence structure was a bit off, but 'it' in the sentence in no way referred to the Matrix.
"I don't know what it is, but there's something about it that makes me watch it over and over again."
'It' referring to 'something'.

Heh, you should read (beware, terrible translation here) "unfinished tales from middle earth"
"runs away and hides to see people's reaction"
-
Is "Unfinished Tales" the 20-volume series that he spent his entire life researching so that he would have every detail of Middle Earth recorded?
Kind of like JD Salanger(sp), who has several hundred books recording the entire history of his characters hidden in a vault in his house.

no, the "tales ais a set of three books, each containing sveral short stories related to middle earth, and, as the name says, some aren't finished. What you're refering about is rather the non-condensated (?) version of the silmarilion (the silarilion wasn't not written by Jrr, but by is son, from many writings JRR made about his universe. That explains some contradictory facts and so on, btw )

Vizzini: But it's so simple. All I have to do is divine from what I know of you: are you the sort of man who would put the poison into his own goblet or his enemy's? Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet, because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
Man in Black: You've made your decision then?
Vizzini: Not remotely. Because iocane comes from Australia, as everyone knows, and Australia is entirely peopled with criminals, and criminals are used to having people not trust them, as you are not trusted by me, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you.
Man in Black: Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.
Vizzini: WAIT TILL I GET GOING! Where was I?
Man in Black: Australia.
Vizzini: Yes, Australia. And you must have suspected I would have known the powder's origin, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
Man in Black: You're just stalling now.
Vizzini: You'd like to think that, wouldn't you? You've beaten my giant, which means you're exceptionally strong, so you could've put the poison in your own goblet, trusting on your strength to save you, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But, you've also bested my Spaniard, which means you must have studied, and in studying you must have learned that man is mortal, so you would have put the poison as far from yourself as possible, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.
Man in Black: You're trying to trick me into giving away something. It won't work.
Vizzini: IT HAS WORKED! YOU'VE GIVEN EVERYTHING AWAY! KNOW WHERE THE POISON IS!
Man in Black: Then make your choice.
Vizzini: I will, and I choose-- What in the world can that be?
Man in Black: What? Where? I don't see anything.
Vizzini: Well, I- I could have sworn I saw something. No matter.
Man in Black: What's so funny?
Vizzini: I'll tell you in a minute. First, let's drink. Me from my glass, and you from yours.
Man in Black: You guessed wrong.
Vizzini: You only think I guessed wrong! That's what's so funny! I switched glasses when your back was turned! Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!! Ha ha ha--(Vizzini falls over dead)

Inigo: Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.
Count Rugen:No!
Inigo: Offer me money!
Count Rugen:Yes!
Inigo: Power, too. Promise me that!
Count Rugen:All that I have and more! Please!
Inigo: Offer me everything I ask for!
Count Rugen:Anything you want.
Inigo: I want my father back, you son of a ***** . (Inigo kills Count Rugen)
