Title: Request: Improved Engine Wash?
Post by: Lukeskywalkie on January 24, 2006, 07:35:18 pm
With the advent of the really cool looking 3d shockwaves, I appreciate the shockwave that comes from a premature detonation, and the knock-around you get if you're too close. If a shockwave can push and rotate you, what about engine wash? I think it'd feel better if, when I fly behind a cruiser, I get more than a shaking camera+hull collision sound from it. Is there any way to effectively 'splice' the coding for knockarounds to the engine wash effect?

Yes.

I speak from experience.

Doesn't it is like that in Inferno ?, the Engine Wash there is more powerful than in FS2, I believe your ship start rotating and you get a void or gravity effect, the case is that if you get in the Engine Wash of a really big ship, you can't get out of it until the Ship moves, or until you force really hard....in FS2 it doesn't really happen like that....

Exactly. For the sake of gameplay...please don't alter the engine wash. 'Cuz getting trapped like that sucks.

might not be a bad idea to add some eye candy to it.

I'm not suggesting anything so drastic as that, just a slight 'push'. It feels silly to be knocked around by a bomb, but just rattled, damaged by .01%, and having debris fly on my screen because of an engine. You don't need a warning screen to tell you that the bomb shockwave that you caused is pushing you around, but if you didn't have that 'engine wash' message, you'd have no idea what's going on if you're behind a ship.

That was a little sloppy, does anyone get what I'm saying?
