What do you guys do to keep fit?
Over the last year and a half I've been doing a lot of sport climbing and I'm a bit of a badminton fan though I'm not horribly great at it.
Climbing is a great deal of fun and it teaches you balance, co-ordination and it improves your stamina and strength; a good all-rounder.
-
What do I what to what?
-
I always take the stairs.
-
I type faster.
-
basketball practice always kills me
-
Cycling. I find I get good exercise out of it and it improves my spacial awareness / reflexes.
-
I used to cycle, but lately done bugger all. Sigh.

I thought you were a fibble player?
BTW your neck of the woods is not a bad place. Just like here only higher and colder. ;)

Aye, I cycled to get fit for 5's. Cycled on the eccie bike, I should say.
-
Indoor 5's? That's ruinous, you don't get a let up unless you take a break; constant running.
We used to play 2 hours of that on a Sunday, anybody that was still pished from the night before fairly sobered up as they sweated the alcohol out.
-
Normally soccer, badminton, and running/elliptical. Right now badminton kind of sucks (the local club got too popular), soccer is hard to get ahold of for playing, and so I'm left with running. I want to get into weight training as well since running keeps those lungs and heart happy but does little for your physique.
But I'm also a lazy git...particularly in the winter months.
-
Push-ups, hiking, and chin-ups daily. Of course some days I get to do more strenious tasks like cutting trees and stuff.
-
Two buckets of cement on each side and a metal pole...
Think that was my answer the last time we had this thread IIRC.
-
Weight lifting in PE every other day...
Well, when I actually feel like doing the work :D
-
i eat less.
-
Im surprised no one has mentioned just going to the gym in general. Thats what I do but to be more specific I do about 35 minutes of cardiovascular (bike elliptical and treadmill) and then about an hour or so of weightlifting. Its great to relieve the school stresses.
Oh yeah and I have just started martial arts and Yoga (this kinda takes the back burner to the Biology major thing) : (
-
I do my job. I'm a postman ;) 3-6 hours a day doing a mix of cycling, walking, running, stairclimbing and some lifting. Impossible not to stay at least somewhat fit.
[Edit] And since it's winter, too much gd climbing over mountains of snow, too.
-
I've taken up fencing, and I have to walk between 2/3 and 4/3 of a mile each day to get to class.
-
I'd run, but (ironically enough) the long-ass walk to the gym puts me off.
-
...absolutely f*** all.
-
I would fence, but I lack worthy competition these days.
Instead I jog on the treadmill while watching the telly.
-
I do a mix of Tai-Chi, Taekwondo, weight-lifting, and running on the treadmill in my basement.
That is, after FREDing for a bit. :nervous:
-
Nothing really; the only real physical activity I have is walking between my classes (about a mile a day, two or three days a week, using stairs around 4 steps at a time :D). I'm slightly underweight anyway.
i eat less.
 :D
-
I used to walk about 5 miles a day and/or play football for like 5hrs when I was at college.
Never lost any weight. I just sweated alot and destroy tons of pair of 'pants'.
There's nothing like skipping 2 days of classes to play about 12hrs of football in the scorching sun.
-
I used to run around campus for about 2 hours every day last semester. And that is no small feat: Penn State is one of the largest college campuses in the States. I lost about 23 pounds doing it, so it was a good deal. I still don't take the bus and I always climb the 7 flights of stairs back to my dorm every day, but that's about it. Like Deepblue, I considered fencing, but I'm just too lazy to do it.
-
I don't need to exercise, I have a flying apparatus that keeps my bulk mobile, ala Baron Harkonnen.

Do you do it for exercise or because the elevators suck? I use the stairs in the Maryland math building since the elevators there are the slowest pieces of crap I have ever seen. I can seriously call the elevator, go up the stairs to the fourth (top) floor and back down during the time it takes for the elevator to arrive. :D
-
i eat lots of junk food and consume roughtly 4 liters of soft drinks daily. excersize includes miuse wiggling and key tapping. on ocasion, i lift the remote.
-
It's not so much as to keep fit, as to get fit.
But watch what I eat, and treadmill, 30+ minutes every day.
-
When semester's on, I run to classes. My uni's a good 40 minutes walk from end to end, and if I have classes back to back I run in between. That doesn't really keep me fit, though. When semester's off, basketball's awesome. I like it much more in winter, the summers here are so hot that you just want to laze around in the air con.
-
Easy... im poor.
-
I cycle to school and back every day, 20km round trip. In the weekends, I sometimes run, around 5km in half an hour. I know that sucks, but it's something.
-
I don't do anything specifically to keep fit, but since my bike is my only means of transport I get a lot of exercise each week.
-
Fencing, martial arts. Though I'm doing neither at the moment, since I don't have the cash to renew my fencing membership atm, and the MA club I was going to here is crap. Once I get a job I'll be making the jaunt to Bristol to go to the club there.
I also have a bike, but it's locked away at the moment 'cos it's bloody cold here.

Outdoors, mainly. We were quite good. Although having a former U-18 from Inverness Cally Thistle probably helped, plus Matt (who was ludicrously fit).
FC Mabozaritchie FTW!
-
I go to the gym 6 days a week. I lift my upper body and M-W-F, and my lower body T-T-S, and i do cardio every night. I just love the feeling of working out and when you are all sore and sweaty.

-
Running, Swimming, and weight training.
Nothing works you over like an hour swimming anywhere.
-
Three sets of pressups and situps every day. Gym - 30 minutes running, 15 rowing and 15 on the bikes, every other day. I wouldn't recommend the transition from slob to exercise buff, though. :P
-
I lift weights at home...and walk the dog.
and there was a time where I went to the gym and walked to the colege and back insted of using a bus.
Should probably start to do it again.
-
Yeah TM, you should get some cardio excercise as a priority over lifting weights. You can be built like a wall and still have a heart attack after all.
Ulala: :D

While I was in the army (1 year) I didn't loose any weight but my trousers somehow grew couple of sizes while my shirts started to feel tight around the shoulders. It was scary. Another year passed after I was released, and my clothes were a perfect fit again. (exept those I bought during I was in army, they were too small)
Seriously... I do run around occasionally. Mostly because I just want to see people and places (live, not in tv or monitor). I should start exercising hard (core) 'cos summer is coming and I need to get in shape
-
i use a masochistic pump to get rid of excess fat and then i eat it
my body is full of infected wounds and obscene scars and my skin is grey
-
Me, I always walk very briskly from my desk to the men’s room. (Good aerobic exercise, don’tcha know?) Of course, my co-workers all think I have a prostate problem… I laugh at their ignorance! Ha! ;7

Basketball. Crew. Lifting weights. Getting girls.
