Title: Editing FSO Campaign Progress
Post by: Avrojet on January 30, 2006, 08:34:01 am
Hi,

I was wondering if there is a tool for editing the campaign progress (default FS2 campaign) and/or the pilot stats for FSO (3.67).
I have tried CAMPED32 but it does not recognize the relevant FSO files.

I'd like to go back and do some of the missions again and do them better, but FS does not really let you do that easily it seems, which is a pain.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Do you want to simply replay the missions? You can do that in the Tech Room's Mission Simulator. Just make sure to switch the tab to Campaign Missions and not Single Missions.

Could you try to be a little more specific?

I don't just want to replay them on a one-off basis.
I'd like to replay them within the campaign, so that the objectives I complete are saved in the campaign.

For example: the mission where you have to take down the beam cannons on the Shivan Juggernaut. I took down 3 of them and then continued and ended the mission and advanced to the next. Is there a way I can go back and complete it again and take down all 4 cannons and destroy the othe ship that appears and then continue on to the next mission, with that status being saved?

I hope that is clearer now.

Uh, nope, don't believe that's possible. That would require restarting the campaign.

Extract this (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/karajorma/FAQ/Downloads/CampaignRestarts/FromBearbaiting.rar) in your Data\Missions folder and you can play from Bearbaiting again. Don't forget to delete it once you've completed the campaign :)

If you have any other points you want to play the campaign from just tell me.

I tried your file and extracted it to data/missions. However, FSO crashes when I go to the briefing room or the mission simulator while that file is in the directory. After removing the file it works correctly again.

Another oddity is that Bearbaiting does not even appear in the mission simulator list, although it must have been saved as being completed because I am on the following mission currently.

Perhaps it would work if the file linked the campaign to the mission before Bearbaiting (the one with the destruction of the Knossos device), as that mission is listed in the simulator?

Sorry. My bad. Forgot to mention something important.

Restart the campaign with that file present. FS2 was trying to load the 20th or so mission in the campaign and the edited file only has about 12. A restart should cure that. :)

Ahh, that worked better, thanks.

There's still one problem though: I am missing the specific secondary weapons I should be equipped with on that mission
(Trebuchets & Helios).

Any way to fix that?

Odd. I just tried it and I got the right weapons. Try a new pilot.

EDIT : Figured it out. Go to Data\Players\Single and look for the PilotName.Freespace2.cs2 file. Delete it and restart the campaign. No need for a new pilot.

Thanks for your help.

It works nicely now, and I was able to keep my pilot stats and medals :)

Going to take down the Juggernaut now ;)
