Title: Question on inserting capital ships
Post by: Dark Hunter on January 31, 2006, 05:21:35 pm
This may sound like a dumb question, but I'm new to this whole business.

I wanted to replace the Nyarlathotep in Derelict SCP edition with Vasudan Admiral's High-poly Lucifer model. I'm just unsure of how to do this (or if its even possible). Any pointers?

It should be as simple as installing the 3.6.8 media VPs and using any build that supports them (Anything from after 29/12/05).

If the model used is the defualt luci, it should happen without ant moddification.

It is.  All you have to do is extract the .pof to data/models and the maps to data/maps.  Though I did notice the HTL Lucifer firing from it's "new" beam cannons in one of the missions, so I'm not sure if Blasie relied on it.

That shouldn't be a problem. Vasudan Admiral posted something on how to get the "planet-beams" operational.

Did that, and the Nyarlathotep is unchanged.
I'll try updating to a newer SCP build, using the 3.6.8 files.

install mv_models.vp and mv_textures.vp, and use the latest CVS build. :)

Every time I read this thread title, I giggle.

Just remember that freespace is picky about the order of where things are placed in folders when it checks for which model to load. Be sure to check the FS Wiki sections on modding if you have any questions about which files should go where too. That way you may have questions answered before you can ask them.
