"Eurovision is the granddaddy of all talent shows and the Super Bowl of singing," said Ben Silverman, chairman of series producers Reveille.
Wow - don't know much about Eurovision, do they?
-
Nobody gives a **** about Eurovision Song Contest. It needs to die.
So, good luck to the US  :)
-
Those yanks really don't give a damn about the Geneva Convention do they? :p

I can't see how this is going to do anything; American Idol brings in tens of millions of viewers every week, and I don't see any significant portion of them switching over to a new show. Typical network exec stupidity: if a show works well for one network, we all need two or three similar ones on ours. :p NBC's just copying another network's success, but I can easily see it backfiring on them.

Eurovision has nothing to do with singing.
It's all about countries sucking up to each other with votes and Terry Wogan standing there going "God, I wish I was dead.....No, wait. I wish they were all dead."
Denmark got real pissed one year (2001, IIRC) when he called the Danish hosts Doctor Death and the Toothfairy.

:sigh: We already have that God Forsaken "American Idol", now we have this too?! :shaking:
-
Of course. Network TV still has decades of futility left before they give up the ghost completely.
-
There's still the History Channel
-
A.K.A. the Caesar and Hitler channel.
-
ah..i'd rather watch the history channel than american idol....

Last year I enjoyed the glorious Eurovision experience whilst chatting with other idiots on IRC and drinking beer
The year before that (I think?) I was just drunk with buddies.
It's like a C-class action flick or a genocide, only worse and live. Why to suffer when you can just get drunk and enjoy it?
