Title: Error that I haven't ever seen before
Post by: Ghost on February 11, 2006, 09:40:45 pm
I was at a friends house, getting him set up with the SCP and whatnot. I get all the stuff I think he should have(MVs core, effects, models, and textures) and run the game. When I enter a mission, the colors on the background are inverted. I probably should've taken a screenshot and posted this from over there, but too late for that. Instead of seeing black space, I see white, and tiiiiiiiiiny little black stars. No nebulae or planets, either. And before you say "oh, the white box bug, but bigger," no, I don't think that's it. I downloaded LS's backgrounds and all that jazz, but still nothing. And keep in mind I saw stars, so I'm pretty sure that the colors were inverted for some reason.

And yes, I could still see ships and everything. It's just the background, and it slowed the **** out of the computer, in addition to blinding us and making it impossible to play.

I have had a similar issue with ATI cards when SmartShader effects are being used.
I don't know if that option could be available on NVIDIA Cards and where. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to take a look and disable that option if being used.

Make sure he's not using an OGL shader that does that. I've seen shaders that do it before...

That might be it. I need to take a closer look, but I think he's using an onboard video card that isn't by either ATi or Nvidia. Makes me shudder just thinking about it. I also intend to try the P4 optimized build next time I'm over there, as that's what he has for a processor.
