Evidently he couldn't collect his check unless he could link to the thread.

Actually the last thread got deleted by some wierd time-warp anomally. And THEY wouldn't pay me unless I actually wrote like, 4 paragraphs. Screw that.

Which is why you didn't get paid for it and felt the need to inflict it on us again.

I also remember that the last thread pretty much ignored your screenies on the basis that it's just another carbon copy FPS (which you vehemently, yet unsuccessfully tried to rebuke).

The only reason that I'm allowing you to continue with this is that you've by now made xbox and xbox 360 games so unpopular, that if there were any chance that you were actually one of those insidious shill marketers you'd have to start paying them to let you continue you're so bad at it.

The first thing that struck me was how soldiers appeared so plastic, like look at the far guys pants.

I have yet to see any 3d renderred characters in games that don't look plastic. The game companies spend so much time on these glows and flares and bumpmapping bull****s that the games look faker than anything :(

Nah, it'll come eventually. It's just that everyone has now jumped on to the normal-mapping bandwagon, so all games pretty much come out looking like Doom 3's plastic army. But next generation games, or at least the ones I've seen, tend to do a good job of not overdoing the effect, or using some other technique to make stuff look (more) realistic.

For f***'s sake! If you're going to make a thread on the sole basis of a stupid pseudo-joke and screenshot of some generic X360 title, at least make sure it's a good screenshot!

At least the most infamous viral marketers around the internet, the AEG/Nvidia guys, have come out (resulting in gigantic 1600+ post flamewars in some places :D). Although it's not really clear what they were required to do in exchange for their free stuff.

That screenshot looks decent, but it's nothing remarkable compared to other current games.

No. Let it all out. Supressing your true nature will cause a psychic trauma.

I just about feel sorry for Deepblue. :p

I guess my suggestion would be to keep the gaming stuff to a gaming forum which HLP apparantly no longer is. =/

Though more stupid things have been posted here by more 'reputable' members. >.>
I don't agree with deepblue being the scapegoat all the time.

Mexicans, I believe.  Although they're dark-skinned, so that probably counts as 'arab' to most people..... :sigh:

It's either the new Full Spectrum Warrior (first one was indeed awesome on the Xbox) or Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.

Both games I will be getting after I get a 360 :)

Technically, I post about Xbox stuff now and again, fyi. Pretty sure I am not in the employ of Microsoft ;)

You don't 'whimper like a little girl' though.

Full Spectrum Warrior was ****e. I played it on the PC, and the AI was so bad, it was to the point of making the game unbeatable. Your guys would literally stand five feet away and could not hit the target, while the enemy could snipe you across the map with a machine gun while you run from cover to cover. I'm not even kidding. One time my squad was about 10 feet from the target and behind a wall. The bad guy would fire and hit all along the wall where my squad was. When I pinned the bad guy down with another squad, and the one behind the wall opened up, there were over 100 hits on the wall BEHIND the bad guy, but not ONE hit him. On top of that, in another situation, I'd wait for the bad guy to run out of ammo, and tell my guys to attack; except as soon as I did that, the bad guy was done with his reloading. Every time. It would automatically finish it.

Give it a rest for once will you BD? And Deepblue - don't respond to him this time. Sooner or later one or both of you are going to get yourselves monkeyed over this. It's not worth it.

Might want to read the first page before you single me out.

And another thing - what the hell is the problem here with ME not liking the advertising that he's doing over and over again even though everyone here wants to vomit when they see it?

What, I can't express disgust?
Title: Re: Is it wrong for me to whimper like a little gi
Post by: Grey Wolf on February 14, 2006, 02:36:22 pm
It would help if you expressed your disgust in a calm and civilized fashion, rather than lashing out.

That applies to the majority of the people in this thread actually...

if it really caused that much angst you could always lock the thread instead of being surprised when flame wars start up over it.

It would help if you expressed your disgust in a calm and civilized fashion, rather than lashing out.

It would also help not having this many repeated advertising threads posted over and over again. Calm and civilised fashion only goes so much until annoyance and revulsion take over.

I don't really see why I am the one being singled out. All of us who notice it time and time again, hate it. We all express it. Why the hell am I so special?

Frankly, you have a rather superior and supercilious attitude. In almost everything.

The thing that impressed me most about that shot was the view distance. It's pretty incredible when you consider nothing in the game has shadows baked on. Everything is lit by real light sources. Everything has soft self-shadowing.

I'm inclined to agree.

BD, I've no problem at all with anyone here saying they don't want to see another X Box thread. The difference is that while others are at odds with the subject, you consistently make it personal by attacking Deepblue as a forum member rather than the content that he's posting. As you can read in the guidelines - that is not allowed. So step back and take a breath before posting in any future threads like this. Report it if you think it's spam. But since we went to such great lengths to draw up guidelines (one of which being that personal attacks on forum members won't be tolerated), don't be suprised if we keep our word and follow through with the penalties if we have to.

That said, I'm not going to be completely one sided about this. Deepblue, while you're welcome to post information regarding computer games here - it would be a good idea to fledge out the post with some information about the game you're discussing. This topic being a perfect example - we have a screenshot. No content information... not even the name of the game. It's little suprise then that these topics generally swing round to the fact that it's "yet another X Box thread" rather than sticking to the subject matter because... quite simply... there is no subject matter. Don't be suprised if future threads started that feature only one picture and no supporting information, text, links or anything else will be locked as spam.

There, you're both warned. This advice goes out to both of you: Think before you post.
