Won't be a patch on the Channel 4 miniseries of the same name (but completely different setting, story and scenario), though.  You'd never guess it was written & directed by Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium), would you?  Seems a pretty generic sfx+female type bullet time fighty film.

C4 Ultraviolet was crap. It was too damn slow.

Oh and this movie looks like they took all the stylistic traits of Equilibrium and combined them with the plot of Dark Angel.

Milla Jovovich is ****en hawt.

And I think this should at least be better than Resident Evil, DOOM and Aeon Flux

I was strongly of the opinion that the tagline for this movie should have been, "It can't be worse than Aeon Flux."

Nuh huhuhuhuhuhuh....just saw it. Think I got dumber; wow that was retarded. Some pretty cool action, but the script, acting, dialouge, everything...wow, just retarded. See it  for the action, but leave your brain, pride, and dignity at the door.

Looks like one of those 'DOOM' type movies.

All action with a quick, simple plot made at the last minute.

EDIT: woop-goes off to read thread.

The CGI looked too fake. I didn't like it.

I was kinda hoping it'd be left to a cliffhanger and nver be shown again till after i die of natural causes 40+ years later.

If I remember correctly, there's a total of 4 Resident Evil movies scheduled to be made.

So two more after Apocalypse. Tremble.

I think I'll pass on this and go see a movie that doesn't depend on CGI and ****ing hot actors.

CGI and ****ing hot actors!! What more could you ask for!?! (Yeah maybe a plot, but that's secondary...)  :D

I like the old movies, where plot and acting skills were more important than excessive special effects and bullet-time action fight scenes. But maybe that's because I watched the classics as a child.  =/

Most of the old (50s, 60s) movies I've seen are incredibly badly acted, IMO; shockingly hammy.

You can't compare the bad movies of today with the good movies of the past. In past decades, there were a few good movies and a lot of **** movies, just as there are today. Nobody goes into a movie like Ultraviolet expecting to be wowed by all the deep, provocative issues that it tackles, and the same was true of those ****ty old James Bond movies. The only difference is that the violence is much better-looking now.

Exactly.

Dam Busters was not an accurate portrayal of the exploits of Barnes Wallace and his team any more than U571 was an accurate portrayal of the capture of the Enigma Cypher.

It's not the movies that have changed, it's our knowledge of the facts.

However, because special effects have got more spectacular, there is a tendency, not so much to rely on them more to tell the story, but to bring them more to the foreground. Clash of the Titans was considered, in it's time, to be one of the greatest SFX movies of all time, yet it just about equals Pirates of the Caribbean for SFX contents these days, and PotC is, in my opinion, a far better film.

What has changed is not so much the content of the movies, as the promotion of them. Films cost a lot more to make these days, so there is a lot more emphasis on making a profit.

Yeah, those are good points and I didn't really think of it in that way.
Still I wish that there were more movies like Titanic and Apollo 13.  IMO those were among the best movies ever made, for their stories, the directing, the acting, and special effects were wonderful.  What I was trying to say before was that I dislike how more movies these days tend to overdo SFX and don't give enough for the other areas of filmaking which can be just as important.
And of course there were bad movies in the past.  That's why there's the MST3K series to properly poke fun at them. :D

Titanic and Apollo 13 are just garbage.

They're overly-long, mindless drivel derived from formulaic concepts based loosely around events that were generally boring to begin with.

I hope you realize that we're dealing with opinions.  You have the right to say that you didn't like them, but that doesn't make them "overly-long, mindless garbage".

Meh. That movie was pretty crappy.

It was basically one long fight sequence with a bunch of over-acting.

The greatest movie ever made is clearly Bridge of Dragons (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0194722/) with Dolph Lundgren.

Oddly enough, if you replace "over" with "under", you've got the last two Matrix movies summed up pretty well.
