Title: n00by, utterly ridiculous question
Post by: aceofspades on March 03, 2006, 02:24:59 am
Uhh, feel welcome to shoot me for this n00by, utterly ridiculous question...but...any chance of creating a mission with multiple Gorgon Cannons/Fire Arms?

No reason to post it in an old thread, either.  Split.

Sure.  Fire up Fred and have fun making it or anything else you can imagine.  Then post it for others to play with too. :)

I kind of meant, does anyone know roughly how much capship-superaction causes how much strain on the engine and computer? E.g., "Having >x Collosuses (Collosi?) in a mission will generally risk a crash unless you have a video card and CPU better than y, z."
Not that I would know how to FRED a ship from fan-made campaign anyways  :doubt:, but that's a different matter.
And by the way, Mefustae, Raa, Cobra, Goober (shorter just to say "those HLP people"), thanks for your...emphatic response .

well, htl ships eat a lot more than their non-eyecandy bretheren and big ships tend to have more detail than smaller ships. The only way to tell for sure is use fred and place which ships you want, then test in freespace. Test with the flag in the launcher for memory usage and frame rates turned on and see how it goes. also a lot of effects horsepower goes into shooting and exploding, so you may be fine with 5 colossi in formation, but if all 5 blow up at the same time, your video card my leave you for a better home.
