I was looking for information about this on the web, but couldn't find any. Was this a demo, OEM, and/or campaign?

I think it was the OEM version. I'm guessing it included the first third of the campaign or something like that.

Yeah, it went to the capture of the Taranis, then ended.

I'm not sure what OEM is, but it was my first intro to the world of Freespace. I got it with my family computer (it came packaged with the whole thing.) It was basically the main campaign up to the point of capturing the Taranis. No cutscenes, but otherwise the same thing as regular game. Thank God for it, because I wouldn't have ever heard of such a great game if not for it.

Answered your own question without realising it :) It basically means a bundled product.

Lol ive also got that, as well as the OEM version for Freespace 2 (Colossus).
