Title: Performence issues. Any Low-end patches available?
Post by: Oblisk on March 04, 2006, 12:04:11 am
Hmm, I just had a quick run with the latest build, and I am getting a few slowdowns in some large battles. What would be the most memory-hogging option for FS2Open? Glowmaps? Mipmapping? I average about 60fps, but it can drop to around 3 or 4 when big explosions go off. I also heard there are packs for "Low end packs" or something? Is there a low end 3D Shockwave patch or any more "low end" patches like this?

Thanks  :D

If you're using D3D, switch to OGL. It seems D3D doesn't like the new shockwaves. OGL is faster and more stable at this point anyway and ATI cards will only get specular mapping on OGL.

Is there a reason why the game runs in 16bit under OGL mode...? (I set all my settings to 32bit in the launcher)
