Title: Freespace 1 Port Mission 5 bug
Post by: webman2k on March 04, 2006, 12:31:16 am
Hey all,

Just something I noticed.  On mission 5, where you first make visual contact with the Shivans.  Part of the mission is to escort a ship to a jump node (forget the name).  If the ship were to get destroyed (according to the briefing) it would launch an escape pod, which you would then have to protect.  However, I found that if the ship is not destroyed, it finally gets to the jump node, but just hangs there, and the mission never finishes.  If it is destroyed, when the escape pod gets to the node it jumps out and you can end the mission correctly.

Anyone else notice this?

Thanks!

It's because you weren't supposed to be able to save the ship. But I've found that if you keep shooting down the bombs, as you would with any other escort mission, you can save the ship.

Okay - just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me.  Thanks or the response.  It's a bit funny that the programmers wouldn't even put that possibility into the code, especially since you CAN target the bombs.

Thanks all.
