The Persian divine angel of justice and last judgement and the personification of righteousness. Along with Mithra and Sraosa he judges the souls of the dead. Rashnu guards the Chinvat bridge leading to heaven. He carries the golden scales with which he weighs the souls at Judgement. Rashnu is one of the Yazatas.


Or, alternatively, a massively armed police dreadnought capable of turning a significant fraction of any fleet into space dust.

The front cannon is a frontal spine-mounted beam cannon, while the rear twelve are smaller, less effective versions of it (since they all have to share from the same power source). The large eight turrets are self-dependant, meaning they dont use energy from the ship itself (both reactors of which are meant for engines, beam cannons and hte smaller anti-fighter cannons), and rather run on their own gas (for the most part, just bolted on and can be replaced with other turrets if required).

In other words, only really safe place for an enemy from this thing is behind it, the space of which is, co-incidentally, filled with enemy destroyers, cruisers, and capital vessels. And its only really safe if your a fighter, since the turrets turn all the way around :P

It's the texturing I love... it's the consistency from ship to ship - it adds much more to the feel of a fleet. Nice one!

Very nice. Good to see a design that makes use of all surfaces of the hull for weapons placement, allowing for all round fire rather than the usual convention of dorsal and ventral based arming schemes.

The side multipart turrets wouldn't work in-game (yet), but that's a really nice design it... would be really cool in the game, what's the current poly count?

her poly count's at...*glances at DoGA CGA* 489452 polygons. maybe around 50% of that is taken up by the rows of small Anti-fighter turrets (the new variety) you see at the forward side. It's pretty damn graphics card intensive to render, sadly, so I doubt you'll be seeing this model in any fleet shots - even WITH my new rig. Just rendering it alone takes up ages...

And YES, DoGA CGA is inefficient in terms of polygons and stuff. If anyone does want to make the stupidly insane attempt to optimize my nightmarish models, feel free to PM me :p

holy ****! i'd hate to see how badly that screws up one's FPS, even on the highest end computers. :shaking:

i like the model, though. it's a work of art. :D

Considering the amount of actual detail you've put on it 489452 polygons is kinda rediculous don't you think?   About 90% is probably wasted in those turrets...if you cut those turrets down to about 500 or 1K polys you might have a game worthy ship.   Also what's taking all that time to render this thing?   Honestly the textures don't seem very detailed...what program are you using, if you haven't already mentioned it?   The only time i have "nightmarishly" long render times, is when i'm using about a 50K poly model, with multilevel texture maps, bump, specular, self illuminated, and raytracing, also using a Radiosity solution and ten shadow casting lights...but even then it only takes two to five minutes for a 1280x1024 render

Dude...DoGA CGA. Tis nothing but 3d Modelling Lego, really. I dont have any control of the individual part's polycounts at all. The actual ship's polycount is within 100k - a significant percentage is made up of those turrets, really.

I really, REALLY need to put the fact up that I cant control polygon counts in the first post, I think, cause otherwise this is starting to get...annoying.

This ship is the bomb!! (Or the Dogs wotsits, whatever you prefer). It's a pity about the polycount cos I would love to see it in game, all silhouetted against a nice shiny nebula!!

BTW Turnsky, I have no problems with hijacking the thread; go ahead and put up the comparisions if you want. :)

Well, some good news and some bad. Ive lost my entire DoGA CGA folder, meaning all my original models are pretty much down the drain. However I did have a .dxf format of the Rashnu tucked away in a safe corner. Now that I've started using Maya and gotten some real 3d skills, I might try to re-make the Rashnu soon with a much lower poly count (although managing it with all those turrets will be difficult, to say the least). However, this attempt will most definately come only after the Cubix Sentry Gun is completed. :)

That said, its still good to see that I managed to make something that's getting bumped like what, 6 months later? :p

really, the difference between mine and Singh's ship designs is that mine usually taper, and his comes in a myriad of shapes and sizes.  ;)

Indeed. There are different styles involved as well. But at the same time not too different. After all, the taper-back into two wings or nacelles is a pretty common design standard when coming to ships.

That said, yes, they do come in different shapes and sizes. Here's a full list with pictures. Note that it doesn't include teh Rashnu, or my more recent racer models. :/
