the rust was supposed to be little more subtle but I couldn't find the Opacity Eraser Brush the tut mentioned. :(
Oh, and some of the shadows look a bit off.

not a bad effort, when i get home i'll try to point you to some tutorials, just a little advice, tho, you can get a real nice effect from a low opacity "speckle" brush set to a low opacity, and just randomly clicked here and there, choose three colors to use, one like metallic color, one dark, and one for corrosion, it gives you a nice pockmarked/rust effect, i did that for the design of my site's interface, the link's in my sig.

That black rivet (the round thing on the left) would look alot better without rust.
-
I only just spotted this in here. =o
But yeah, tis looking good dude.
That all from scratch?
My two cents: learn how to manipulate the brushes first with their options. Then start experimenting with layers, their options, and the effects you get from mixing certain types of layer effects on top of one another. :)

Cant add much more than what's been posted so far. Your on the right track, though, and just need a wee bit of practice before you start getting good at it.

The grey texture in the upper half is imported, otherwise from scratch. Did it again with better use of layers, piccys to follow uh, whenever.

Nice. :)
You've got the texture side of things worked pretty well. Some of the object bits still look a little funny around the edges though.
But yeah, cool. :D

How come they're nearly identicle?
Did you both follow the same tutorial? LoL.

No! ignore this! My other thread! The other thread!
-
The best way to learn how to make textures is to find a photographic texture and try to copy it.
-
yeah, 'twas the same tut :D
