Title: Open GL Brightness...
Post by: ZmaN on March 14, 2006, 10:17:38 am
Ok so I play Freespace 2 in OGL because Direct3D8 cant take the shockwaves...  The problem is that when the game exits, the gamma setting for Windows is set REALLY high so my entire screen has a white tint....  the only I can fix it is if I restart the computer...

Can anyone tell me why it does this and how to make it stop?

Also, Im getting some bad slowdowns using 3.6.8 media vps...  Which -command line is most hurting on performance?

You should be able to set the gamma setting back in windows instead of having to restart, using the video settings contol software that should come with the card.  Typically it is under the advanced display properties.  Then there is always the solution of turning down the gamma contrast in the game to match your desktop.

It's supposed to reset the gamma when the game exits.  It does depend on the build though, a few had a bug that prevented that feature from working.  Which build are you running?

Also use the -no_set_gamma cmdline option if you need to and that will prevent the gamma from being changed in the first place.

The gamma reset bug wasn't fixed until after 02-20-2006, and apparently started with 02-02-2006.
