I was wondering if there was a way to get cutscenes running in Freespace Source? I did a full install of the game from the origional CDs, patched it to 1.2, and then installed the 3.6.7 official release build, with the official media VPs. I then installed the 1/25 CVS build, in order to be able to run some mods. Although I didn't try to access them until now, I never noticed them come up during gameplay. When I try to access the cutscenes I get an in game error message stating "Unable to play cutscene" or something to that effect. I've read somewhere that there are avi cutscenes, are those required to run in the Source Code Build, and if so, where can they be found?

Yeah the code for playing mve files was ripped out when the source was released.
AVIs work consideritgn you have the codec installed. As for where to get them... Well if I could use the forum search... >_<

Actually he couldn't. It doesn't work unless you're an admin.
What he could do is look in my FAQ. There's a whole section devoted to them :)

Yes, that was my point. Why can we not use the search anyway?

Alright thanks, I got the cinematics from your faq and now have them working in FS2 and the FSPort 3.0. Though on another note, I heard a Hi-poly Apollo model referenced in http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=38283.0.html. I was wondering where I could find this model, as I have been looking all around the boards.

Basically the server isn't good enough to handle database searches, and it causes massive lag, to the point where the site is unresponsive. :)

Well that's just ****.
Sort it out, someone. Chop chop!
-
Well...
AFAIK, it's not only the "slow" server...
It's also the Forum-Software that's useing... Uhm... Sub-Optimal Searching-Routines...

Sort it out? >.> Forums of this magnitude take a fair amoun of processing power and bandwidth, and considering they are not-for-profit, all upgrading them would do is put a hole in someones wallet.

I'm pretty sure that this version SMF doesn't build search indices. They're going to be put into a new version of SMF (1.1 IIRC). Don't bug us about it since theres nothing we can do about it.
