Title: Multiplayer (dogfight) problem
Post by: NcFSO on March 16, 2006, 03:16:41 pm
Hi,

I tried playing in multiplayer yesterday with a IP direct connect, one vs one in dogfight.  I could see my opponent and shoot at him.  But my opponent did not see me at the same place.

For exemple, I could be just in front of him on my computer but he would see me 1500 k away.  If I shot at him, he would see my laser blast coming out of nowhere.

I'm on WinXP with SCP and he's on MAC also with SCP.  He's through a router.  I was hosting the game.

What's wrong ?

Thanks !

It's a bug in the Mac version, since fixed, but it's still not 100% on the Mac side.  You'll have to get him to use one of the more recent Mac CVS builds in order to have the fix.  I believe that there is still a weapons (missiles only) tracking issue however and that is something that still hasn't been fixed properly.

This is all for a PPC Mac of course.  If using an Intel Mac then get him to use the most recent OS X CVS build (from http://icculus.org/~taylor/fso/nightly/), which is a universal binary, and it should all work fine for you.
