Title: a Small-medium size Ship which fighterbays?
Post by: ShivanSpS on March 17, 2006, 02:25:38 pm
Yeah, i need one for the campaing that I making, someone know is there exist any model of a medium size ship which fighterbay? The idea is that I need a ship for some experimental weapons and ships testing for my campaing, based 1 week before the firs shivan attack, so by now my only option is a Orion, but damn the orion is toooooooooo big...

They are actually fairly common.  If you want something that's been released, try my GTMf Sparta, a Marine Transport that also has a largish turret underneath and a Moloch-sized fighterbay.  I don't have it as an individual download, but it's in my fleet pack (http://www.duke.edu/~cek6/stratcomm_terran_fleetpack_1a.rar).

EDIT: Sorry, fixed the link.

Yeah, the Sparta will work, thanxs, I have renamed them to GTIx Sparta, dont worry for the credits... Anyway, I let only which the Sparta, do you noticed that the fighterbay is not marked as a subsystem? I need to fix this for "manual-lading" event :P xD

"test phase" ;)

And the name is completely up to you.  Thanks for pointing out the subsystem error (that's easily fixed, if it's a POF error; it has bay paths though so you can launch and land from it otherwise); I'll fix it for the future but if you can take care of it then that's fine by me.

yeah, I dint need to change the pof, I just added a line inside the table which
$Subsystem:                     fighterbay,

and its works...

anyway I going to take some time to finish the campaing anyway... one or two moths because i don have too much time... so i can use a updated vercion later.

Anyway the Mayor problem is that I can enter "inside" the ship in one part of the structure...

Which one?  The Max converter has been doing that for ages and most of us are still trying to figure out exactly why.

This is exactly the kind of thing we put together the SOCv Oculus for.

I can't find it at the moment, it's not on my webspace, Sectorgame or Hades Combine, and there's no search function on these boards. So you just have to wait for someone else to drop it off. :sigh:

That thing's been more or less missing since the days of DatDB.  Now where did it go...

EDIT: There it is (http://www.duke.edu/~cek6/oculus.zip)

You can try my Fury Light carrier... it's hosted on Hades Combine.

I still think the disks are to thick on that ... not to sure on my textures for them as well.

I think it needs pof work, and I'm not sure why I made the thing, but you could try this (http://www.sectorfiles.net/aldo/aldo-misc/boilerplate.zip).  It's quite thin, 1.8km long, and the last ever model I made and will make with V stock terran textures.

Hey, speaking of fighterbays, how does one actually make a fighterbay? I can make a fighterbay subsystem, but how should docks and paths be named?
Title: Re: a Small-medium size Ship which fighterbays?
Post by: TrashMan on January 15, 2007, 06:07:29 am
Bay01, Bay02, etc... goes on.

So for Fighterbay 1 (assuming you have 4 paths per bay) it they would be named Bay01-04
For Fighterbay2 they would be named Bay05-08.. etc..

Didn't Scooby_Doo do a retake of that but it was an actual ship? Or did he not texture that one either?

Ya, the Enterprise... it's done, although it's just about  as big as an orion and is a fleet carrier, not exactly what your looking for... however theres this:

Liberty at 500meters

and
Nimitz (750m? can't remember right now)

The Sparta of stratcomm was just i looking for, but is bugged :S  the shoots and ships can just pass thoght it :S

You want something small that has a small fighterbay?
Title: Re: a Small-medium size Ship which fighterbays?
Post by: ShivanSpS on January 23, 2007, 01:57:19 am
well the idea is this... the GTI is developing a ship capable of do deep cover missions in enemy territory, like intro Validan Prime in the T-V War, using a Orion is too damn big ship, you will have a lot problems to hide it from the enemy :P.

So the ship i need is a ship capable of carrying some wings, about 5 , those are deep cover missions not all out assault, so, that is more than needed, and if they need more then send two ships :P, and some hull to keep up the fight against a cruiser, so, something like the Moloch is very very good, so was i looking is a Terran Corvette with fighterbays, the Sparta is that, and i using in my campaign as a GTI prototype.
The idea is good, the GTI need a ship to do that type of mission, then they develop a this ship xD, who never going to see the sunlight.

Perhaps a Terran Moloch equivalent -- not quite as effective as the Deimos, but with a hangar.

I would personally prefer a ship along those lines, but that was not necessarily built for super-expensiveness like the Fury or Oculus.

After all, tis probably cheaper to make 2 or 3 hangared corvettes/frigates than a single Hecate. Not to mention faster and more tactically flexible.

As yet I haven't seen any Terran ships that meet that criteria, tho. At least none that I wouldn't see as being primarily SOC.

How about this? Although it looks too fancy and streamlines for Terran

All those lost-without-any-support-but-a-Deimos campaigns (Sync!) could really use something like this.  If the corvette had a fighterbay, it'd explain how your ship miraculously gets rearmed and repaired.

The fighter can probably dock into one of the latches on the outside hull of the deimos. They would probably take the missles and hand load them into the ship, I don't know where they would get the missles, thought, and they would probably be as big as the people.
