See for yourselves. I forsee this to be another half-arsed pseudo-sequel like BF:V, frought with problems upon release that won't be properly resolved until after the BF3 is released. :doubt:
And guess what, it's being released for PC and '360! Hooray for console bastardisation!!
-
Hmmm, the movie was kinda cool though. Well the start bit at least. :)

Fixed.
Op Flashpoint did fine.

what exactly is Battlefield 2142? is it like futuristic warfare?
-
So it seems. With Earths non-ice covered land mass diminishing there's a fight on to claim the sweet spots.
Good excuse for a rumble really.

???
Did fine because it came out on PC and on XBox, you mean?
You do realise there was about a 3 year delay before the XBox release, yes?
-
Looks promising. If they manage to capture the gameplay feeling of BF1942 with a good SP stroyline, it might be great. On the other hand, it is a EA game, so I'm not holding my breath.
-
That was the most pitiful and boring trailer, I've ever had the misfortune to watch.
-
Wasn't Op: Flashpoint on the xbox hideously ugly and horribly delayed?
-
Dammit. They still haven't fixed the CTD and the Red/Blue Bug in BF2 and they are not only creating expansion packs, which have issues in and among themselves, but a new game with out fixing the last one. True, BF games are very complex, but fix the one before moving on to the next.

You can't sell patches
(New EA corporate motto)

You mean the credit type things?
:D

wasn't hideously ugly, it was hideously old. it was made before the xbox was even released.
-
Looks cool....sort of what I figured it might be. I'm interested.
BF2 is a fun game for me....haven't bought any addons or anything. Still unlocking weapons...big fan of the sniper and spec ops classes. Getting used to the engineer too.
-
Well atleast Trailer looks good, but gotta wait a while until they give us in-game shots but I'am interested to see this game in action.
-
It does look promising. I have my hopes up for this since I too enjoy BF2 quite a lot -even if it does not sound like that on our TeamSpeak :p - (also own SF and planning to purchase the EF aswell).
-
The giant mechs looks awesome but the game itself looks like a reskinned bf2. Besides they just released Bf2 around last year! I think they should fix the bugs of their older games before they go out and make new sequels.
I have better hopes for Enemy Territories: Quake Wars.

From the trailer...it looks like BF2 style graphics. I don't see this as a cop out either....BF2 looks beautiful on my old system. I'm not getting anywhere near the full effects that the engine is capable of putting out.

I'd be more concerned that the interface is optimised and loading times reduced as much as possible. That's my great beef with BF2. It might look pretty but it sure as hell beats your system into submission to do it.

The trailer is over at FilePlanet as well.

Indeed the loading times and expecially the client verification times can be really frustrating. Wonder if it were possible to make the server verify the client the same time it loads up the map on th eclient end... would it be that difficult.

Elite version is quite stripped down, suffers from several problems and above all lacks modability. OFP is alive and kicking well today just because there's such a huge amount of additional content being released. Elite was just "meh", I don't know if it even includes Resistance or even Red Hammer and I didn't enjoy it. For a complete OFP novice it might be fine, but you can just grab the ooooold GotY edition with RH and Res for like 10 bucks, DL a ****load of mods and vehicles and guns and missions and explosions!, and then play for years to an end.

I totally agree with you. First of all, the BF2 engine does not impress me, and I've got the settings turned up to the max. It seems like EA and DICE are just out to make a quick buck now. Although, let's be honest with ourselves; it was only a matter of time before a futuristic Battlefield game was announced.
