Anyone have the Apollo from FS1 in .3ds or MAX 2.5 format? I just got a killer idea for a pic and am in need of this particular model. I'd appreciate it.

I could get for you. But can Kazan's POFCS convert FreeSpace 1 models?? If it can, then the rest is easy with 3D Exploration.
[EDIT: Please contact me if Kazan says it can be done.}

Are you kidding? I can't even get it to OPEN FS1 models , much less convert them.

Oops! Looks like FreeSpace 1 models is a no-no then.
Kazan, can you modify POF CS a bit so that it can convert FreeSpace 1 models???

youcan convert the apollo to a fs2 pof (modelview), then convert it to cob (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

You can also use FSMM to convert FS1 models to FS2, and FS2 back to FS1 as well - though it doesn't work as well for the latter, as the FS1 engine isn't quite as capable (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Currently, I only have Kazan's POFCS and the Descent Manager collection, 3D Studio Max R4 and 3D Exploration. Conversion needs so many programs......

Yeah, and re-texturing a DXF conversion is a real pain in the...well, you get the idea. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) Plus, DXF'ing the model will only increase the polygon count by a factor of 6.
Now if only the DXF-import plugin would keep the texture coordinates! (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/mad.gif)

Or download the FS2 Apollo from the VW Archives. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Whihc is why I convert to 3D Studio Max and see what can be done.
