Hey Guys,
since I'm getting now really annoyed, can someone please tell me how I can activate the cheat to make myself invulnerable ?
It really goes on my nerv that when I program missions and testplay the crappy 20 minute mission and then get always shoot down a few seconds before the part I actually want to test comes :mad: . This is happening amazingly often too :D
So, what do I have to do ?
I'm tipping "www.freespace2.com" ingame and get the "cheat enabled" message. Then some cheatspages told me to to hit "I" and hold the ^-button while I do that. Great, no my target is invulnerable, but I'm not.
So, what's necessary ?

I think it's just "I" with nothing else pressed at the same time. But if everything else fails, you can always sexp in an invincibility toggle for yourself... just remember to remove it before release.

Oh, does this work ? My last tries (quite some time back though) made that not working on the playership. Worth a try :)
As for the Cheat, at least I get no message when hitting "I", so I'm not fully sure it is working, last time it didn't :)

You hold the tilde (~) key and THEN hit I.

Maybe a problem with the german/american keyboard layout. Nevertheless, it works making myself invulnerable, that much more comfortable :)

the funny thing about cheats. I CAN'T f**king USE them. Sorry for the shouting but i have tried and tried, but it doesn't work. It has annoyed the crap out of me. In Freespace: The Great war, I'm in the mission Black Omega and want both the transports to survive, but never are able to do so. At first I ordered Beta or Gamma wing to protect Omega 1 or 2 and have the rest attack the fighters. But the A.I. is so annoying at times that it doesn't take long before all other fighters are dead and only Alpha wing survives, that is until the fighters turn to them and with a Ursa bomber, you can forget about fighting them of. You can try, but you aren't going to get far.
So than I reconfigured that I'm the only bomber, but that doesn't work either.
So the cheat unlimited weapons would be usefull here.
But can't. When typing www.volition-inc.com i get no message saying cheats enabled or anything.

You can use the Infinite Secondaries cheat in Retail FS1. Enable cheats, the pres ¬w. Then restart the mission - Because FS1 wont let you advance if cheats are enabled. Infinite Secondaries will remain active. But you will still be able to advance.

My walkthrough:
Order all fighters to engage the Anvil.
You Take out the two Osiris Bombers that are heading for the transports.
Then help bring down the Anvil, but take out any enemy fighters that approach the Transports.

to activate cheat mode type in game: www.freespace2.com
then hit ~ + I
But it's better with the invulnerability sexp as you'll have to activate the cheatmode and the cheat itself every time you start the mission again for playtest it.

Why not just make the player ship invulnerable in FRED. Seeing as its a mission your testing. I've done this for years.

Yeah, let's not be reviving two-year-old threads from here on out.
Mike, if the previous advice didn't help, typing in "www.volition-inc.com" directly should work to activate cheats just fine in FS1; make sure you're hitting each key distinctly as you type it in, and don't hit anything else in-between letters. However, as has been indicated, you won't be able to advance in the campaign with cheats enabled (unless the trick that terran_emperor mentioned works). It's been a very long time since I played this mission, but I seem to recall focusing on disabling the Anvil with a dual Harbinger round first, then getting myself on protecting one of the Omegas (usually Omega 2, since that seemed to take the most damage). Try to get one wing on the transport you're not guarding, and get one or two additional ships on the one you are if you need them. Order everyone else to ignore the Anvil for the moment and engage the enemy fighters. If you get the chance, taking out the Anvil's weapons subsystem might be a decent idea; if not, at least try to take out any of its turrets that are firing on the transports. You should be able to sneak them both by with some trial and error. The Wiki page (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/Black_Omega) on the mission contains some additional advice.

That little trick i mentioned does work. I happen to own Retail FS1+ST
For whatever reason, the FS1 engine will not let you advance if you enable cheats, but if you give yourself infinite weapons then restart the mission, then the i-Secondaries effect will remain. The effect will remain as long as you are playing missions. If you return to the mainhall, or exit the game then you will have to enable then restart again.

I was thinking that I should wait and see if Mike had any follow-up questions before locking it right away. Not much sense in making him start a new thread when he's already asked for help in this one.
