- wow i never knew you could access a site by its IP. Never knew sites had IP's.

- wow i never knew you could access a site by its IP. Never knew sites had IP's.

Domain names are just direct aliases for IPs. DNS servers do the translation. For instance, a DNS request for www.descenterace.co.uk filters down to my DNS server (barring caching) which looks it up and returns 82.71.110.197 as the IP. I've got about five other aliases for that site too, since the server does duties besides Apache.

The webmaster is probably well aware of the problem and will work on it when she has the time; bear in mind, though that she and the two or three other individuals who help her with the site all have full-time jobs (she works for a banking firm in Bangkok, Thailand) and a host of other "real-life" matters to take care of, so it may be a bit before these problems (and any others) are fixed. Right now only the webmaster herself has the ability to make changes to the site (mainly because the server the site is on is in Thailand) and she has been too busy lately to update it on regular basis, so she may not be able to do anything right away.
