"This page provided to the domain owner free by Sedo's Domain Parking ."
Huh?
-
I tried going there a few days ago and wasn't able to access it either.
-
:( That's where I get my freeware at! :(.
-
It's still there, just hiding. Do some research. I found out what was going on in less than 10 minutes. :)

What's especially odd is that Whois falls over when you give it the address which is not what I'd expect to see if it was simply a matter of letting the domain name expire.

I'm trying to discourage laziness. :p

Does it matter if the site's still accessable by IP address? The file server isn't at that IP, and you can't get those files any way other than through their website.
-
It matters in that it means the site is still there. It hasn't been shut down by hordes of ravenous lawyers, lost in a fire at the hosting company, or whatever else that might jump to mind when it's suddenly gone. In short, it means it'll be back.

Well that is good news.
- wow i never knew you could access a site by its IP. Never knew sites had IP's.

Domain names are just direct aliases for IPs. DNS servers do the translation. For instance, a DNS request for www.descenterace.co.uk filters down to my DNS server (barring caching) which looks it up and returns 82.71.110.197 as the IP. I've got about five other aliases for that site too, since the server does duties besides Apache.

The main website works fine; links to the forums and FTP files appear to be FUBARed, though (no surprise there). The webmaster is probably well aware of the problem and will work on it when she has the time; bear in mind, though that she and the two or three other individuals who help her with the site all have full-time jobs (she works for a banking firm in Bangkok, Thailand) and a host of other "real-life" matters to take care of, so it may be a bit before these problems (and any others) are fixed. Right now only the webmaster herself has the ability to make changes to the site (mainly because the server the site is on is in Thailand) and she has been too busy lately to update it on regular basis, so she may not be able to do anything right away.
