I think the white pulses were actually photon torpedoes.

I prefer the newer version of the Enterprise. More sleek.

Well then, that's why it's a newer version now isn't it (and don't get me started on why the NX-01 looks sleeker than anything in ToS either... sore spot).
-
waht newer version? if you're talking about Enterprise NX-01, that's not a newer version, it's a totally different ship. i personally don't even consider the new series canon it's so messed up.

that's an understatement.

He's not talking about the Sovereign-class Enterprise E,

Damn straight. Its a well known fact that both Berman and Braga hate TOS.

Hehe. Apparently the Sovereign can take on the entire Imperial fleet and all B5 First Ones combined, according to some SpaceBattlers (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)
Nice render. Though the ships could use better textures, but I guess that's pretty much what the original Enterprise (aka constipated ostrich) looked like.

yeah, you know how the budget was back then (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

in the 1960s and 70's star trek was aimed at a different audience.
If you saw the origional enterprise-style ship you would have a very hard time beleiving the series was real, peoples' tastes have changed pretty radically.
I havent seen "enterprise" at all yet..since the fastest download i can get from the uni systems is only 50k/sec..i cant be bothered to sit around.
So the series producers find themselves in between remaining faithful to the series, and catering for a different audience (i wont say more sophisticated because you arent, quite frankly)

OK im more of a Star Wars guy, but the Sovereign class(Enterprise E) would beat the hell outta most ships

Sovereign class ship can own an ISD anyday because it's got those quantum torpedoes!
-
Actually, if you compare the engagement ranges of the weapons and the engine performance of the combatants, even an Oberth class would own a ISD any day of the week.

Oh baloney, they just didn't have any money or the sophisticated FX techniques back then and it's no more complicated than that.
Thier major advantage they had was what the hell existed back then that could be compared to it? "The Attacking Flying Saucers from Mars"? or how about "Santa Claus vs. the Martians", we know what wonderous marvels of fiction those were (OK, ok, there was "The Day the Earth Stood Still", but SF of that calibre was definately a rarity back then.)

Lets not turn this thing into another comparison between Sci-Fi universes.
Besides... Trek is completely unrealistic, ships pulling more Gs than ANY structure can handle, ships thats would cost a hell of a lot of cash to design and make... having resources that don't even exist on worlds, etc. And StarWars takes place a LONG LONG TIME AGO IN A GALAXY FAR AWAY. So...

Look at this would ya..........the man creates a beautiful model of something as Legendary as the Enterprise and he gets all the guff for it. Carl I would be extremely interested in those ships if you have them modded for FS2.

i wish! the deflector dish by it's self has too many polys for FS! The whole model is just under 15,000 polygons. now, maybe I-War2...
-
I have that too!

Let's not get into any more Trek vs Wars arguments here, or I'll have to CAM all your toys. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)
