Hi first off I'd like to thank Shivan for the amazing torrent, saved me some hassle. However I am having major headaches getting FS2 to actually work!
A while ago I had the retail which broke, so under a urge ive downloaded the torrent and extracted it etc etc. First when I use Open GL it reboots my pc, so i've ran it in direct 3d8 to get past that, thought I was in the clear execpt as soon as I start any mission it just CTD's with FS2 mirroed on a black screen not responding. All the topics, FAQ's are very confusing, can anyone help?
I heard Omega drivers helped but I found they didnt, nor did Ati officals so I'm on my DH ones at the moment.

What version of fs2_open are you using? (Note that the mediaVP version CAN be different from the fs2_open version...although it is not recommended that you have such a configuration, unless you know what you're doing)
Have you run a debug (_d) build in either mode?

Its okay I got help and worked :) But thanks anyway, I have another question though, well two actually, I understand theres alot of new sparkly graphics and this is effecting my FPS at certain times (incoming flak, close behind an engine and explosions/shockwaves) Anything I should disable to get abit of a boost. And finally how can I configure my PS2 pad to work with FS2, I have the USB adaptor and everything, works fine with other games..Just FS2 see's it but ingame theres reponse. I'd use my joystick but its abit knackered.

Try calibrating it from the launcher?

Try removing mv_adveffects. You really need a top of the range PC to get that one to work with no lag.

It helped alot thanks :) Just wondering how can I increase stabality, seems to crash when alot happens on screen and on the 3rd mission (Where the NTF jumps through the node and the pilots freak out) I'd like to be able through the full game with enhanced graphics thats all?

I still havn't had a chance to try some new potential fixes, but I've also been experienceing similar problems with the newer builds. I have, however, found that the 3.6.7 build and VPs run very stabily on my system, so you might like to try that.

Yep. I've always reccomended starting out with an official build if possible. CVS builds vary in quality by a fair margin. I think we're at a stage where they're less reliable than 3.6.7 where as 3 months ago they were more reliable.
