Get the lighting sorted and it will be great  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

ST:FC used much heavier shadows with less emphasis on glow effects and more emphasis on surface details (bump maps etc.)

that might help you get the look more

Well, you could improve on the textures. Currently, the Enterprise-look-alike ship looks like it was made of plastic.

I'm not sure if TS has this but if you increase the Specular Level and lower the Glossiness in 3D Studio Max, it will look more metallic.

what version of TS do you have? if it's TS1, don't even try to render with it.

switch to caligari phong and set the diffusion to 0.9, the ambient to 0.0, the shineness to 0.4, the roughness to 0.2, the mirror to 0.0, and the refraction to 0.0

Really good, but the ships are a little dull (no offense (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)) and there needs to be some more background.
But, anyways, keep up, it's still really good  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif).
