Title: Starting a small campaign\mod.
Post by: JoeLo on April 04, 2006, 05:07:56 pm
Ok in this mod Icon or the Independant Confederacy is splitting off from the GTVA. I am a decent FREDer and will be able to do the missions. However I will need someone to help with models, for new ships.

Spitfire II: Named after Britians WWII plane these highspeed fighters carry lots of primary punch, although they sacrifice armor and secondary weapons.

Thunderhog: A non-manuverable bomber good for taking out heavy assests. With two turrets and massive missle banks this is an expensive piece of equipment and should be well guarded.

Apollo II: Named after the first Space Superiorty fighter, this fighter has four primary banks, and two high load secondarys. It is a balanced fighter.

Hermes Cruiser: Based of the failed Auelos cruiser these carry far more punch, and can demolish most fighters. The Terran engineers learned from the Auelos and equiped these cruisers with more anti-cap ship punch as well.

http://freewebs.com/joelo2/ I know... Freewebs but until I get the project underway, I don't need a domain.

More to come check out my site for full details.

Piece of advice - dump the new ships if you can't make them, because it's the kiss of death to be relying on other peoples free time at the moment.  Also, I'm not sure you'd need them storywise (apologies if you do, but I think you need to make sure that you take the approach of writing the storyline and then deciding what mods you really, really need).  For example, you can have a decent count of enemies an keep it a realistic rebellion / insurgency if they're using Great War fighters (which you can hopefully presume exist in great numbers from the war and still are hanging around as poorly guarded reserve squadrons or stored in junkyard mothballs).  I think if you just tbl edit the likes of the Aeolus, or scavenge some other models from other sources, and focus on the storyline & missions above all else, you'll be more than fine.

Sorry to sound negative, though.  It's just that loads of people run into big trouble by relying upon charity which, with the best of will, no-one has the time to give.

Good luck!

Ok I think I'm just going to stick with possibly recoloring\texturing current ships to make them look different which I can do. I know my page looks crappy, but until I get a credit card... I'm stuck there. The first demo wich will contain two-three missions will be released in about two months if it stays on track... which it almost definantly won't.

Or use 3d party mods that have been released already. There are an absolute ton of really good models out there that hardly get used.

If you actually ask for suggestions you'll probably find you get people throwing suitible mods at you :)

If you're really lucky, you might find some people who aren't doing things like school when they should be... >.>
