That's pretty dman good for your first render
-
Those are some loooong Hercs. That and the lack of thruster glows are the only things not directly related to lack of practice
-
Here's a hint- if you bump-map a planet, make it SUBTLE. Those waves have to be at least a hundred miles high... (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

What's with the Hercules fighter? They seem stretched out.

maybe they just passed by a black hole or something (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

I see some thruster glows. I like the planet, just the atmospheric glows could use some work. I think Warlock had some trouble in that department with TrueSpace. Those Hercs are a little stretched, did you zoom far out?

You know what I think, nice job (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

That looks really, really nice for a first shot (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

I think it's teir angle they're at (Turned slightly towards the camera) as I kept all dimentions factors of the origional (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Well, it seems like something was done to them.

As for the planet's atmosphere, try to make it blend with space. Kiind of like slowly fade off as it extends further away from the planet.

This ("http://www.angelfire.com/ab6/iverach/anomaly.html") really shows you how much the angle can screw up a perfectly good render...
-
Aaaand... THIS is why TrueSpace is evil!
-
Which is why I'm trying to learn how to use Lightwave...
-
I intended to have the Hercs turning to attack the Hades. I can't see how you guys think they're stretched (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)
