Its the one where you have to destroy the Jotunheim station. Im finding it quite impossible, cause first the station launches unlimited number of fighters until it is destroyed, then the Hades jumps in, and it starts spamming loki's too, and unlimited number of them. Shure in my hercules i can blast the hell out of all the turrets that the Hades got, its weaponless, but the sheer number of Loki's decimate all my wingmates and any other friendly wings, and they eventually destroy the friendly cruiser too. :sigh:
Is it really supposed to be so that the Hades & Jotunheim just launch unlimited number of fighters? Cause that makes the mission impossible to complete, no matter what fighters your teammates have, cause eventually they just succumb to the sheer number of Loki's that the station & Hades pump out.
For every wing i destroy, 3 new pop up..
I figure destroying the fighterbay might be a good idea, but its kinda hard when you got like 30 Loki's on your tail..

That's the way it was in the original. It's worth remembering that this is a port of what is almost universally regarded as the worst mission :v: ever made.

Destroying the fighterbay won't really do anything. This mission is extremely frustrating, and the only way that it was completeable in FS1 is void now due to the big ship flag. I've gone through this mission a couple of ways in FS2.
1) Spam fighters yourself. Equip yourself with an Ursa with nothing but Harbingers, and your wingmen with Ulysses/Hercs. Have them cover you (or engage enemy while ignoring the Jotunheim) while you take out the station. When the Hades arrives, hang back from engaging it until the cruiser arrives, and then order every wingman available to guard it. The sheer number of fighters on your side will decimate the Lokis, while the Oorf fires on the Hades. I've always just done this until the Lokis are exhausted (it's 99 waves, but there's still a limit), and then had whatever surviving ships exist attack the Hades.
2) Spam bombers. Much less advised, but it can work sometimes. Ursas and Medusas work best here. Order your wingmen to all attack the Jotunheim, and simply the sheer number of warheads will destroy the Jotunheim quickly. The turret fire from your bombers will be sufficient to take out enemy Lokis, though you may want to give your bombers some anti-fighter missiles such as Hornets. The Hades half of the mission requires either guarding the Oorf as in the first example or disarming the Hades near the fighterbay and simply camping as the Lokis respawn while one or two wings work on the Hades.
Extremely frustrating, and I still wouldn't highly recommend the above strategies either; they're simply ways that I've been desperate enough to try.

One thing to watch out for, when the Jotenheim hits 0 heath and the death-roll begins, be sure to give the "ignore my target" order to all craft, to ignore the station. Otherwise, they'll be caught in the explosion and some of them have weak hulls by that point. I usually lose all my wingmen at that point in the mission, which makes covering the bombers quite difficult. Also, keep an eye out for a couple of Zeus wings coming from the Hades. They'll attempt to Phoenix the Orff (or was it Stilettoes they were firing) which can cause significant dammage (or knock out its turrets).
-
Or you can modify the mission like I did and give the Orff an SGreen, just to give it a chance in hell... or, if your feeling slightly less restrained, give it a BGreen, or, if it's the 19th time you've tried to play the mission, screw it all and give it a Big ****ing Red Beam, give it five, with a Helios in its missile launcher, and make the rest of the turrets AAAf, and make the Orff into a Deimos, nah an Orion and...
-
Actually, (unless its been altered for 3.0x), the Orff is already equipped with FS2 default weaponry, but without a beam-free-all sexp, there's no ability to use it. I altered my own copy (some time ago) to switch the FS2 weaponry out for FS1 weapons, so more of the turrets would engage the enemy, but if the FS2 guns are in place, all you need is a beam-free-all event triggered for the Orff as soon as it enters the scene. With its AAA guns it should be more than capable of defending itself from the fighters.

What an annoying mission, but i finally completed it..after i switched difficulty from normal to "very easy"
after 838 promotheus shots, and over 50 harbringer missiles(thats just me, my teammates didn't even damage the Hades except the Orff)
Took a 20 minutes to blast the station, then 1 hour and 10 minutes to blast at the Hades.. -_-

Dude, I just played that mission today and finished it in like 15 mins..
I made Alpha Wing Bombers (Ursa and Medusa), and Beta Wing Ulysess fighters...
Pound the station with alpha wing, have beta wing cover for you... As you destroy the Station, the Hades will jump in...
If you did your loadout correctly, you should only have to call for a support ship twice..
Then repeat what you did before.. Order alpha wing to destroy the hades, and beta to cover... There arent too many fighters at this point so if you really have to, destroy them yourself.. Oh, and make sure that YOU ARE AN URSA!!

What difficulty did you do that under?

It was set on Easy....

I don't know how you would only have to rearm twice, it would take 250 Harbingers to destroy the Freespace 1 Hades, 125 in Freespace 2 (that is equivalent to apx. 117 Helios bombs, or 8 shots from a Sathanas beam), the Ursa can hold the grand amount of 6 of these bombs.
-
When I did it on FS1 it took me over 20 minutes and way more then 2 rearms.
-
It made for a superb multiplayer mission, though. :D

OHHHHHHH
I did it in Port, thats why...
I believe I did try it in Freespace 1, and I just ended up cheating because Everyone died and it was just me and the hades....
Then it said I cheated.... :hopping: :hopping: :hopping: :hopping:

Gee, for whatever reason did it say such a thing?
Anyway, it was significantly easier in FS1, actually, when you could just hide in the trench and put a rock on your fire button and go watch a season of King of the Hill while it went to work.

Much of this information (and various tips for dealing with preticular ships) are in the Wiki, people should look more often.

Bah, rock on the fire button. That's for the super-creative. For most of us, it was a rubber band around the trigger of our joysticks. :)
Worst mission in all of Freespace.

it said I cheated because I didnt feel like destroying the Hades so I just actvated the cheats and do the ~K Command and it killed the Hades.. It went to the debreifing and read through it, and I hit continue and it said I cheated
