Title: Real Problems getting the B5 mod!
Post by: Wildfire on October 21, 2001, 02:16:00 pm
Thanks to the advice of several members of this board I downloaded and installed "Getright" with the hope that I could - eventually - download the mods and have some fun (I only got a 56k modem).

But everytime I try I get so far or leave it and come back some other time I find that I cannot connect to the website or the URL has changed or the server is busy etc etc etc etc etc etc.....

Any advice on what to do?  Or have I missed somthing obvious?

I'm not accusing someone I just want to get hold of that MOD!

Try manually pasting the link to the download URL in Getright.  That's what I did when I downloaded the Core Files from 3ddownloads.com.  Six hours later, well after midnight, I was yelling "SUCCESS!"  The neighbors kinda got pissed but Monkey them.   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

[edit] And another thing, if partway through your download it tells you that the URL has changed, go find the new URL and enter that.  Getright should resume and pick up the transfer right where it left off.  In theory. [/edit]

Sorry about the misinformation up there.  Got bored today and went through the extras folder of the TBP MOD.  One of the readme.txt files specified on how to install the ship loadout screens and make the proper table entries.  I checked myself and found the graphics, although couldn't find anything having to do with the weapons loadout screen.  Maybe I didn't check hard enough...   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

[edit] Very, very sorry now.  I replied to the wrong post.   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/rolleyes.gif) I deserve a serious smacking.  Feel free to provide it. [/edit]

heh, I had to download the entire 130MB package.  What really sucks is the un-reliable mirrors.  I couldn't get diddly squat from FilePlanet, and the only thing I could get from that other place (not FP or 3D Downloads...but that other one) was the hi-res textures.  All the other files either 404'd on me or the server refused to respond.

Anywho, 9 hours later I got the full blown package.

Try the Finland one. That's where I got mine.

Any of the mirrors should work... I managed to pull all the files and that was as soon as it had been announced - so there was a heavy user rate.
