[q]A new FBI-style crime-fighting agency has been launched in the UK......
...The Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca) has chosen a fierce big cat bearing its fangs and leaping over a stylised silver globe, with a crown capping it all.
It's bold but bears a striking resemblance to the logo of the 1980s children's cartoon series Thundercats.

You've got the image labels backwards. Otherwise, funny stuff. Serious Organized Crime Agency, sounds like something from a kid's show.

Excellent. Now I can sleep safe in bed at night safe from the threat of
mumm-ra international terrorism.

Ok, ok I get it now. :p

Full marks to the BBC for asking! :D

Serious Organised Crime Agency? What does that mean? There is Organized crime that isn't serious? Or does it mean they (soca) are taking their job seriously? :p
The logo is nice, though a little too subtle. They should just copy the Majestic 12 logo from Deus Ex. No hiding behind animals! ;)

They are hiding something! I know it!

No, it's the sister agency to the Serious Disorganised Crime Agency.

I'm still not happy with the whole idea of SOCA, despite sounding like an illiterates' version of 'Socccer', I'm not quite certain what the need for it is is. One minute the Police are complaining about the lack of community policing, the next minute the governmenty are creating their own personal FBI. The problem with Organised Crime, such as drugs, protitution etc has always been a social one, not a criminal one, you reduce the demand, you need to deal with the cause of the demand, not the supply.

Not to mention it screws up responsibility; from what I understand, SOCA has gobbled up the service that handled individual internet crime such as lone paedophiles, but none of the responsibility for that type of 'non-organized' individual crime, for example. I think it's a simple case of creating the boogyman under the bed - big nasty terrorist Al-Capone types are a far easier thing to say you're targeting than, say, social and societal deprivation leading to crime.
-
It's telling that the logo would look utterly appropriate emblazoned on a superhero's chest.
"Holy blazes SOCAman, teenagers wearing hoodies! Does their evil know no bounds?!"
-
"My word, ASBOBoy - tremor at the terrifying troupe of troublesome teenagers! Fetch the Blunkett-mobile!"
-
Our chief weapons are surprise and fear!...
Edit : I wonder how long until a clerical error sends a fingerprint team to a hostage situation? ;) (SOCO = Scene Of Crime Officer = Fingerprint officer)

ever seen the clown mafia? :p

I swear, I thought it was a bad, poorly-timed April Fools joke at first.

ROFL!
How can anyone take that seriously!?
What happened to MI-6 btw?
Sir Bond retire?
-
thank god He-man didn't really have a logo, otherwise it'd be more hilarious if they made theirs like that :p
"we shall stop organised crime using the power of grayskull!"
