Title: Degraded CD Data Recovery Program?
Post by: Sandwich on April 16, 2006, 03:38:37 pm
I've got some movies on old CD-R's that have become unreadable by Windows. However, when I try to play the movie file with Media Player Classic, it will pause and grind away, trying and retrying to read a sector, and eventually it will succeed and continue playing. Ergo, Windows gives up to easily.

So, does anyone know of a decent (free) program that will do it's darndest to recover data off a CD?

I saw a link to ISOBuster (http://www.isobuster.com/) elsewhere on the web that says that the full version can do that. Don't know if the freeware version can though.

The freeware version does (or at least it used to).  Very handy.
As far as I understand, the full version is more for advanced DVD recovery and stuff.

Very cool, thanks! I ended up warezing (can that be verbed?) something called BadCopy Pro before you posted that... it worked nicely, but I'd rather stay legit and use the free stuff. ;)
