Title: Screw it all...
Post by: Mars on April 16, 2006, 09:39:45 pm
What is the command line to display all missions in the tech-room?
How many times have I heard that question and thought "holy ****, what an idiot"? (ironic isn't it)
When will the search work?
Can I / should I add the command line to the wiki?

-allslev in the custom flags spot in the launcher.

Thank you... I was going through virtually every combination of A, Ls, S, E, and V.

That should really get added to the launcher.

It's supposed to only be there for people who know about it.  It does sort of spoil storytelling.

Why am I just now learning about this mystical flag?

LL - "Why am I just now learning about this mystical flag?"

D'OH!  Who let him in here?  ;7  Kept him in the dark for a while no? (kidding)

Fine, then put it in the launcher under "Access all campaign missions (spoils storytelling!)"

The -nobeampierce command is in there and it screws up gameplay directly, so I don't see why this can't go in there too.

That might be a valid argument if the -nobeampierce command wasn't about to be taken back out again :p

What will TBP use then?  Or is this in concert with the new launcher code?

The "no pierce shields" weapon flag has been there for the same length of time, you know. :)

I know, it just means that for future releases, we'll have to alter our tables so all beam weapons use the flag, and change the default installer so -nobeampierce won't be enabled.

Well you should have been using it that way from the start. What's to stop some player making certain missions that little bit easier when flying against Nials by simply turning off the flag? :p

You can take out -nobeampierce when you pry it from my cold dead hands... (kidding) :P

And in what way does it "screw up gameplay?"

In that it is up to the mission designer not the player to decide whether beams pierce shields or not.

How much fun is your Star Trek mod going to be if someone unticks the -nobeampierce box allowing phasers to completely bypass shields even at 100%?

The same amount of fun as if they type in the change weapon cheat and give themselves Shivan Super Lasers or invulnerability.

And you can do that by accident from the launcher? End users should not be able to make massive changes to the balance of a campaign simply because they didn't realise what a switch did.

beampierce should not only be set-able by a mission, but by weapons.tbl as well >_> although IMO if set in mission it should override whatever default weapons.tbl has.
