The Earth Minbari War
Scenario - 2248
You have been a pilot in Earth Force for nearly 3 years, your combat experience since joining EA has been very limited but all that is about to change. You are posted to an EA Fleet as they approach the Minbari borders to learn more about them and determine whether they are a threat to Earth. As you jump into Minbari space you are soon to come into conact with the alien race known as the Minbari. First contact goes horribly wrong and instigates a war with the Minbari that could lead to the extermination of mankind.
After your first mission "First Contact" you fight for your life as your are forced to retreat from the superior Minbari ships. The first 6 missions will be based on forced retreats and holding actions as the Minbari Rampage across EA space.

Scenario - 2268
-
Ah yes april fools was over, 2248 then :)
-
Some sort of prequel to the official EMW-demo?
-
*cough* ITB *cough*
-
It looks good, I think you just need a little Russian in it.
-
-
*cough* ITB *cough*
ITB doesn't work with newer versions of TBP ;).
-
Triv's porting it, IIRC. No ?

More Info :
This campaig is based upon ITB, it has a different storyline than the EMW demo. Instead of being attached to an EA cruiser for the duration of the campaign, In EMW you start off with the fleet which is heading for Minbari space to learn more about them. After your attack on the Minbari Fleet your fleet manage to jump out to saftey, you then retreat to the Jericho system where you are to iniate repairs. The Minbari then jump in and wipe out the fleet and the Jericho base. You then flee the battlefield and spend the rest of the campiagn attached to other fleets until they are taken out. This approach is more realistic as many EA ships where lost during the war. In a war like this you would expect to be displaced frequently with many EA ships being destroyed daily. You then continue through the campaign on a variety of missions as your pilot tries to survive the war. Halfway through the war you are attached to an EA fleet (as in ITB) which comes face to face with the blackstar, after defeating the blackstar you are then attached to an elite EA fleet which has been outfitted with some Centauri weapons bought from the Narns. You then progress through the campiagn onto the last mission which is the battle of the line. All in all the campiagn plays very well and is very atmospheric. I have put much variety, action, surprise and pilot storyline into this campiagn making it an excellent campaign to play which is not too hard in the begining and will boast 16 action packed ITB missions. :)

WIP Update
14 missions are now complete, they just require the voice acting and cut scenes. Missions 15-18 are in progress and will be finished at weekend. Instead of 16 missions I have made it into an 18 mission campiagn. Ill post some screen shots tomorrow :)
-
Are we talking rendered cut scenes or ingame footage ? Because if it's the latter, think about using the cutscene-SEXPs instead. Downloading 200-300 MB of recorded ingame stuff isn't exactly efficient ;)
-
SOme cut scenes will be rendered mixed with ingame footage, some cutscenes will be in game using sexp. Theres going to be a lot of Voice acting and b5 ITB samples used in this one as well as some wav cutscenes, so dont expect a small donwload :)
-
WIP report
Work has now started on the cut scenes as the voice samples are starting to take form. Herer is a shot of part of the intro cut scene, this scene is one from Mars.

I hope you won't be using too much B5 DVD material, as it can draw unwanted attention from Warner Bros, who are still making nice bucks out of the DVD's.
-
This isnt dvd material, its my modeling and texturing. I know there might be complications with using actual b5 footage so Im making my own :)
-
That it was mistaken for the real thing is probably about as nice a comment you could have hoped to have recieved about your render :)
I tend to agree though. Well done
-
Oh boy, I knew it looked a bit odd but I assumed it was because of the amount of dust that has gathered on my notebook's display. But yeah, at first glance it looks quite a bit like it was from the show. Then again, outdoor renders in B5 weren't very detailed at the time.
Good work mag. :)
-
Cheers :) It looks a lot better animated though :) :) ;)
-
It looks good to me. Only caveat is that maybe the bump-mapping is a bit high on the landscape, but it's hard (and unfair) to judge from a still of an animation.
-
The bumb mapping looks fine when its animated, the motion blur takes away the roughness of the landscape :)
-
I played around with the lighting and volume fog last night, I opted to use a slightly darker environment as it was in the references to mars in the episodes.. I have started rendering the 5 second anim clip of this short, with just over a total of 20,000,000 polys it shoul be finished rendering on sunday :)

Whoa, sounds really nice! By the way: Do you know "Halfway through the tour" by A-ha? ;) ;)
-
Vast improvement there in the 2nd render  The sky and the terrain look much more real.

hey madaboutgames i am kind of noob :D but is heat em up season one ready jet and if it is ready were i can dowload it?
-
I've heard some of his mission ideas and everyone should be suitably excited. In all honesty.
-
hamaxp - Season 1 & 2 are done, season 3 in getting there. There is currently no demo available for download, I was hoping to get all 5 seasons done by this summer but with real life issues and the forthcoming releases of EMW and BHX i will be resuming work on the heatem up seasons and hope for a release next year. Currently I have updated Infestation and survivor campiagns to work with 3.3a and a single mission of the long twilight struggle is also available for use with 3.3a go to www.heatemup.stargame.co.uk for info and downloads :)
:) Cheers Ian :)

-
There:

That's just the old TBP Earth Minbari War demo (aka mini-campaign). It only has what 5 or 6 missions tops. MAG's campaign is a different animal altogether.
-
Oh, you're right. I didn't read the whole thread
-
MAG seems to be in vacation, doesn´t he? Still waiting for a reply about the EMW-Campaign. MAG postet that he would resuming works on Heat em up after finishing EMW. Since June he ist working on Heat em up again, but where´s EMW???

latest input was that the release would be conected to the 3.4 release.... or am I mistaking?
another prob HEU and EMW got is that the host of several of "our" dev-forums (HEU; BHX; AotB) have moved our forums and we need to "relocalize"
-
MAG has been busy with some heavy RL stuff, as have I.
-

I hope that it didn't hurt your projects a lot :(
-
Reactivating this thread! Heard nothing from this project for a long while. How is it going (I hope it is going)...?
-
I do too!!!
And how the heck can i get HEU??
-
Yes! And what about BHX??
-
If you're a beta tester you've already played it. Kind of.
-
I´m not... :(
-
Well it just needs a few more missions, VA, and some polishing up. That's all. It's fate is kind of tied up with that of TBP 3.4 since I am working on both at the same time.
-
[Post about British TV moved to correct thread]
-
Going off on a slight tangent, which I can do because this is my forum and there's nobody here anyway, I heard on radio one that they are going to film a new Only Fools and Horses series. A "what happened before series". I found it most amusing that radio one assumes that OFAH fans won't understand the word prequel.
??? :wtf: ???
To get back to HEU and EMW again...
The project is halted for the holydays as far as I know (but I'm just a beta-tester here) -- MAG recently re-joined the frey from RL and had been working on everything he started...
Sadly he is currently of with little helping staff (as well as I seem to be) -- TBP crew members who gave their hand in the past when 3.4 was not an issue are now off and crazy as hell fixing bugs -- others have disappeared for the holydays
-
Am I right that EMW, HEU and BHX will be released after completion of 3.4-Version of the B5-Mod? If yes, is anything known about the release-date of 3.4 ??
-
The thing is Knarfe1000, when release candidate 7 of FSOpen came out I went to all the trouble of getting rid of all the load time errors TBP was causing. Due to changes in what FSOpen expected to see in the tables and what it determined was allowable. Now I tried a new build last night in testing the new 3 sphere hyperspace effect but to my disappointment I couldn't even get TBP to load! It threw a whole host of new errors. It turns out they've moved the goal posts again and I'll probably have some more work to do to make TBP compatible with the latest build.
The point I'm trying to make is that even if I manage to sort out all these little objecttypes issues with Goober, and even if I manage to get the hyperspace effect looking nice, and even if Fishguts and I manage to finish this huge list of little tweaks and improvements we want to make. We could still release a version of 3.4 and find that it's out of date within a few weeks when they release the final stable FSOpen 3.6.9 build.
So that has to happen before we can release 3.4 in a completed state.
That said, once Fishguts and I have finished our upgrades and we are happy with it we may release it in beta test form. This is a sensible idea this time around since there are a lot of changes. Any camapign written for older versions of the game will need tweaking at least. On the plus side the changes are paying off and we're seeing big improvements in the product. There will certainly be a final, tarted up version of Raider Wars to play with the beta, and a cut-down BHX demo.
-
Thanks! Than we should hope that 3.6.9 will approach soon !
-
I'm really looking forward to this. The mini-EMW campaign wet my appetite for this sort of thing. Did I read somewhere that madaboutgames was hoping to release it for X-Mas? Oh that would be fantastic...
