Title: Running out of ideas here
Post by: Scorpius on April 21, 2006, 09:50:28 pm
Okay well, Ive been wrestling with my laptop for the past few hours now about how to get my CD-DVD-RW to actually read CDs and DVDs but it just doesnt seem to want to.  After looking at the problem for a few hours, I figured I might come here for a little tech advice.

The problem is that once a CD (any CD or DVD) goes in, the device just spins and spins and will not read, also it wont eject and if I try to refresh the device, it will freeze explorer.  I noticed in my device manager that there are two forms of my CD ROM running one is called "Generic DVD-ROM SCSI CdRom Device" and the other is called "Slimtype DVDRW SDW-431S"  I noticed something pecuiliar about the device location.  Its reading Generic DVD-ROM SCSI CdRom Device at Bus number 0, Target ID 0 and LUN 0 and the other at Location 0 (0) is this a problem?  And do you guys know any ways to get this working again?

I should also mention I am running Daemon tools.  Maybe that will help.

Thanks
