Title: A simple show of appreciation from an SCP newb
Post by: Freelancer on April 23, 2006, 03:52:08 pm
A little while ago I was pointed here by a friend who'd seen the UK PC Gamer article, and after recently cancelling my long-running account for an MMORPG, I was left with some time to play around with SCP.

In short, I just wanted to stop by and let everyone who's working (or has worked) on this project know that I think you're doing a great job!

I'm a big fan and owner of the original games ("what, no way" I hear you say) and never managed to find even a spiritual successor to them in the absence of FS3. It seems like a lot of people new to the SCP community make their first post here when they break something, but despite taking the hard way and not downloading Shivan_SPS' pack (I'm a masochist and wanted to do it myself to understand how it all fits togther) I've had pretty much zero problems installing a recent build with the 3.7.8D VPs and the FSPort. For the last week I've been happily playing through the original FS1 campaign with my trusty Sidewinder Precision Pro, brought back out of retirement with the aid of a duster and a large ladder. Given that everything's worked like a charm for me I felt I should pop by and just show my appreciation for the hard work everyone has obviously put in to bring things this far.

Thanks!

... my trusty Sidewinder Precision Pro...
You have good taste in joysticks. Also, someone needs to give this guy The Welcome Speechâ„¢.

Yay, we have it trademarked now!!! Alright, then:

Welcome to the HLPBB.  Exits are located to your right, left and to the forward section of the installation.  Flamethrowers (which have been filled only with water for ages now) are located under your seats.  Access to the plasma rifles in the weapons locker is restricted to admins, V-gods, or a hyper-intelligent shade of the color blue.  Make sure to visit disco Inferno and our exclusive headz bar while you are here.  If you are on duct maintenance duty, and encounter Carl the Shivan while doing so, give him your lunch and he'll leave you alone.  If you do not, you just may find out what Shivans do to people they abduct, like Bosch  :nervous:. Thank you and have a pleasant stay.

That's my second one today.  I get the feeling that, 4 years from now, if I get a custom title, it will be "Welcome Mat".
