Title: Photographic Subjects
Post by: Fineus on April 24, 2006, 10:00:52 am
Hey guys,

I'm taking my photography a bit more seriously now (despite not bothering to update DeviantArt much) and have purchased a Canon 30D DSLR. Of course with all that photographic power raring to go I'm looking for suggestions for subjects to keep my creative juices flowing and see if there are some neat ideas I may have missed.

I'll be doing the cliches like a drop of water heating a pond, a sunset and so on but if anyone has any ideas or requests then go ahead and let me know - the more the better and I don't care what they are!

It's not what you photograph. It's how you photograph it.

Or rather, how you **** it up some in PS afterwards.

Just go take some pictures of people on benches.

Doesn't look like you take to many B&W shots.  They can turn out excellent, especially with photos of people.

Agreed, B&W works a lot better for portraits etc in my opinion :)

Cheers guys, I did actually take a black and white shot of my dog once (not that that means much) but unfortunately my current camera has quite high noise problems at high ISOs which it needs given how light it usually is in England so I haven't done as much as I'd like.

We couldn't get cats, so instead we've got ninja flying gerbals with those frickin' laser beams.

It's in a useable state now, theres a restaurant at the top iirc, but it was originally planned to have a whole lot more to it. I think they stopped building because the price was getting astronomical :(

Yeah, I think it was supposed to be all filled in (remember reading something about it a couple of years back) instead of only having like 3 useful floors.  It still looks like there is supposed to be more there.

To be picky, are there a few smudges to the right of the building?

Nice first set of photos.  Take some pictures of some more oddly-shaped buildings.  They could serve as inspiration for some new ships.

...Oh yeah, could you get a shot of a hamster flying an F-22...?   :wtf:

Grug.. it does look like it. I'll have to look at a few more shots when I get home and see what's up there.

Tyrian, thanks mate - unfortunately there aren't that many interesting photos in the south of England - this area isn't given over to photography oppertunities very often. As for hamsters and F-22s.. I can give you picture of a dog? :)
