Tacky.

You're not getting matching rings? That's interesting.
-

Probably yours since mine isn't tacky, it's tastyeful.
-
Nice rings, although they remind me of The One Ring :D
-
it's a single ring - they just pictured it at two angles
-
You sure? The diameters are significantly different. Looks very his 'n hers.
-
I like them, they look nice :)
....And in darkness bind them.... ;)
-

they had no womens rings of that design
in the picture one is a size ten and one is a size nine - both common male sizes
and yes - i will rule them all :D
-
The ring looks good but if I was the one who designed it, I will simplify the pattern and use platinum or white gold instead of gold. Anyway, as long as you like it and that matters the most :D Congratulations! When's the big day? Can I come? :D
-
if you look closely the inner pattern is on white gold, it just has an electroplating of yellow gold which has been given a brushed finish, at low angles the edge becomes very apparently and flashes the white gold
as the ring is worn over the years the electroplating will probably wear off
-
and yes - i will rule them all :D
Most men seem to go into marriage believing that. It generally takes a few years to realise the terrible depth of that mistake :p

Years? Don't you mean 5 minutes afterwards?

Yeah I can see what you're talking about. I still think it looks nicer in silvery color. How many people did you guys invite?

Er... I think karajorma answered that :p
Besides, there is always hope :nervous:
-
Do you hope because of you believe in it?
-
Do you hope because of you believe in it?
Five minutes into the whole thing probably not... :shaking:
-
No need to be nervous :p
-
Yet...
-

You're assuming that women change the second that they are married? Shame on you.
They know full well that you can get the marriage annulled if it's not been consummated and it should take you at least that long to get out of the church :)
-
Yeah I can see what you're talking about. I still think it looks nicer in silvery color. How many people did you guys invite?
about 50

not consumated? any marriage that doesn't come pre-consumated ;7 is bound for trouble :pimp:
church? what is this church thing you're speaking of, church has nothing to do with marriage
atleast for me ;)
-
Yeah I know but making the joke atheistic would have killed the punchline :D
-
out of the venue?
-
Yeah I can see what you're talking about. I still think it looks nicer in silvery color. How many people did you guys invite?
about 50
Sounds like a small cozy wedding. Can you make it 51? I can be the flower girl and I look good in fancy gown (I have pictures to prove that) :D
Anyway, congrats again and I'm very happy for you two :)
-
You know you can buy The One Ring on a few websites. So the only way the marriage can be destroyed is by throwing both rings into a mountain of fire, possibly while they're still attached to their owners, depending on how desperate the situation is.
Anyway, congrats on getting married.
-
Nice rings, although they remind me of The One Ring :D
[off-topic]I had a boardgame which had some of the ring replicas in them, so I took one to the movie, and when Frodo said, "Where's the ring?" I said, "I have it!" [/off-topic]
-
Congrats Kazan. Good luck on the whole thing...
Nice rings too!
-
*Snickers @ karajorma. :p
'Grats kazan, the lucky girl must be a woman of steel and patience. ;) :p
Are you going for an outdoors wedding?

Nice choice.
-
Nice choice.
Seconded.
Much-o-green :)
-
now i'm pissed - her parents said they would pay for the wedding, then sent us enough money to only cover half of the expenses; and she won't ask them about it.
-
Erhh... yeeahhh.
Trouble in paradise?
-
yes -
it's called "never trust anyone's parents ever"
-

Erh, maybe they are expecting a payment scheme, 12months interest free? :p
-
no - i figured they may just be sending it in two checks
but she won't ask them about it  :hopping:
-
LoL.
Well, wait a week or so, then ask. No point in getting reved up over it yet. :p
Go have a root instead, else head to the pub. *shrugs*
-

Quiet you. :p
Who doesn't!?
-
You have pick a nice place for the wedding. So what are you going to do if that's the only check you'll get? Make up the rest from your own pocket or cut the guest list?
-
make up the rest out of pocket - cutting the guest list wouldn't make it cheaper
-
Good loking ring Kazan. Nice choise. Also the place looks fantastic aswell :)
-
Tacky.
what are you refering to as tacky? my ring of Ferret's post?
Your ring.
I've been pretty lucky to sit in on this conversation with a friend of my family a few years back who was a sixth generation goldsmith/jewler, owned his own shop, etc. etc.
Basically it comes down to detail, or lack of it, defining the features and quality. There is nothing wrong with the kind of a ring you chose, if the ring and its ingredients cost in the upper range of about a million dollars (figurative price, just to paint the value system behind precious stones) and beyond and the detail is matched with quality, but even just looking at the image of that ring, I can see it definitely isn't one with high-value jewels and gold, but more it's trying to look as if it is.
The key to selecting a ring is your price range, and then taking the value and making it seamless. The ring you chose, to me, just screams "tacky" as it has quite a bit of detail, and it clearly states that you wanted a ring which displays a lot of features.
Only the poor man needs something to brag about. Much like the uneducated being the ones who demand respect the most. So, hand in hand, goes property and what it displays. Your ring displays a lot.
But that's just my opinion, and my opinion isn't fact. We all see what we see. If you want an example of my point of view from popular culture, it would sort of be the "Lord of the Rings", actual ring, being just an ordinary gold ring with that much power behind it, or more accurately, the "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" with the whole Holy Grail topic in the end. The Grail of kings wasn't the one with the jewlery and sparkly **** on it, it was the cup of a carpenter that gave "eternal life".
On another note though, I very much like the choice of your wedding location. Very good choice.
-
wow.. that was pulled out of someone's ass

how the ****ing hell do you figure that? it's just two tone gold - no stones, the white gold has a yellow gold electroplate with a brushed finish and it's etched
furthermore - if i had purchased one with stones i would get lab grown stones since they're chemically more pure, you have finer control over the colors, they don't have flaws and they're cheaper. MY fiancee even intends to get lab stones for hers.
seriously, where did you get this load of **** from.

Kaz, it only really matters what you (well, and the wife-to-be) think of it anyways, so i wouldn't let it annoy you.
BD ovbviously prefers something plain & simple, although a more polite phrasing of that would be nice, IMO, and in any case I'd imagine the ring looks different than in the photo simply due to light and contrast differences in 'real' light anyways (for example, the reflectance on the cross-hatching potentially makes it look a bit like faux-diamonds).

See, that's just the thing I was talking about.
-
Alright, just break it up........
-
The location looks great, it'll be a beautiful wedding indeed. Congrats Kazan, good luck to you and your gal!
-
thank you ulala
BD i'm still waiting for an explaination of why you think a few pennyweight of gold should cost $1 million

He thought the silver bits were diamonds (or diamond-esque jewels).
-
No he didn't.

I already explained everything. :)

Don't wave that at me, I just said the ring was not to my liking and why.

(oh wait.. you clearly showed that you think anything that glitters must be impersonating stones.... right)
-
finally got blairs
I couldn't find the picture of the yellow gold version - but this is what we're getting - and the two big diamonds are being replaced by sapphires
(http://www.riddlesjewelry.com/images/12637539.jpg)
it's going with this solitare (in 1/10 carat size) [which was the engagement ring]
so she'll have two tone gold going on - three stone appearance (sapphire, diamond, sapphire) with the diamond band
-
Nice.
Don't take this the wrong way - but the first one in that last post looks like its a smiley face...
-
lol
that's what a wrap is - this one just has a curve of diamonds along the band unlike others
-
Shiny. :)
-
Isn't the proper term a "wedding band", not a "wedding ring"?
-
do i care? :P
-
now with pics of the actual ring

Looking very nice :) The Sapphire tends to add an 'Egyptian' feel to the rings, which I quite like :)
Edit : Or maybe I've just been playing too much Pharaoh and Cleopatra lately ;)
-
What kinky dress up games you get up to with Sharon should remain in your bedroom :p
-
 Of course, you have to worry as to who plays Cleo ;)
