Is there anyway/any programs that will give my mouse a vertical deadzone or allow me to manually change the data that the mouse inputs?
My problem is, i have an mx1000 logitech mouse, but its only laser is off centered and not directly in the middle of the mouses underside. Now this causes a problem because I always rotate my hand left or right in games to turn left/right, since its faster, allows better precision, and puts far less strain on your wrist than lifting your hand up and moving the entire mouse straight left or right. Essentially we turn the mouse rather than moving the entire mouse left or right.
When the laser is centered directly in the middle of the mouse, the rotation movement makes the mouse travel near perfectly horizontally in which ever direction you want since the laser itself lines up with the pivot point in your wrist; When it is off centered, the rotation movement causes the mouse to move diagonally, because of the lasers positioning, it picks up verticle inputs aswell.
i didn't notice how much of an impact this had in games that required quick and precise movements at first, my aim in CS was horrible and the generally turning/looking around seemed a bit erratic, i thought i was just rusty, but then i plugged up my old mouse with a centered laser and all was well again. Those unwanted vertical movements really hinder the mouses usability in any sort of FPS game, and im trying to figure out a way to manually fix that instead of just abandoning the mouse altogether.
I've tried simply adapting to it and moving the mouse vertically on purpose to compensate, but it feels too much like im fighting the mouse to get it todo what i want it to, and while i can play for very long time periods if i rest my hand and just rotate the mouse for left/right, moving the entire mouse left and right quickly causes strain on my wrist and is nowhere near as accurate as my older mouse with the centered laser. Anyone notice this with the newer mice with offset lasers or am i one of the few people that still uses the old school gamer method of turning? Any suggestions or should i just abandon this mouse? I estimate that the angle the offset laser creates is around 45 degress extra, unwanted vertical input and that is quite alot and in a game like CS or any FPS for that matter where a split secound can mean the diffrence between a successfull kill and death, that is a huge handicap.

Just pull it open and re-set the laser.

Yeah, open it up and see what can be done. Or, you could simply use the other mouse that works.
Or better yet. Get rid of that laser thing before someone looses an eye! Me, I still use those old fashioned mice that have the ball, that the dog allways almost eats, when your scraping the crap out of the rollers inside.
Still works good enought for me.
Sigh. I miss the Amiga days (http://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/pics/comp/Commodore/Amiga/misc/mouse.gif).

Ergonomics FTW. :p

You're not the only one. :)

Simple, effective and chunky. Sounds like the best inventions in history.

You're essentially looking for a mousing utility that can reset the axis just like the joystick utilities can.
