Title: Photoshop plugins
Post by: Fineus on October 31, 2001, 03:10:00 pm
Does anyone know any good sites and/or downloads? I feel it's time to expand my collection.

In particular I'd like some plugins that can do Lightning, Fire, Explosions, Other weird effects suitable for FS renders.

I saw a bunch on the website with lunacell.  They did a bunch of stuff.  You could check it out.

I can give you a handful of stock explosions from renders if you like, or you can make them yourself easily enough (although the time involved increases exponentially as they get bigger). Boris FX makes some very nice flames, and some mediocre sparks and "comets" suitable for welding arcs and missile trails.

A very nice fire effect one:

And what Adobe itself says on the matter:

And that's all the searching I'm gonna do.

BTW- anyone know if the Flaming Pear demos are the sort that self-destruct after a certain period of time? If so, can you just reload them?

They'll just tell you that you need the codes. I don't know about reloading them, I bought the ones I use.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

Thanks for your help Stryke and Warpstar - I've just finished downloading all the Flaming Pear demos to try out and I'll move on to others later.

Re: This one ("http://www.v-d-l.com/adrenaline_download.html") - How do you download most of the free ones? I can't seem to find the links anywhere...

I think the little

Server 1
Server 2
Server 3

Thing- it leads to an .exe.

Nightvision looks good, the rest you could do in a minute on yer own.

Cheers, I've downloaded most of them (those that I can). I also got Nightvision, which looks really impressive...

Turn off the green blobs and it'd look even better.

Green blobs? It's called nightvision- that's what it looks like, unless you get the nice stuff.

The small, bright green blobs.  I'm not sure what they're supposed to be, but I've never seen them on any nightvision screens before... or at least nowhere near that bright.

I think he's referring to the static in the foreground.

You've never looked through a monkeyed up pair of NVDs? (PVS-7B is the newest model if I remember right, least that's what I was using when I left the armed forces).

The *nice* version of NVDs would be the VVS-20 or any of the tripod mounted low-light or thermal sights (don't know any model numbers off hand).

Oh, those aren't stars. Ok, don't know what they're supposed to be, but they're obviously meant to be there... Static?

youbetcha!   (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/lol.gif)

'nods aren't all they're cracked up to be.  Some of them can be kinda twitchy, thus you get static.  Usually isn't as bad as is pictured in Thunder's pic but it is acccurate.

It was a rapid render - just showing what it could do (hence it's only 640x480 and I didn't even add my name to it).

Could've sworn the dodgy bits (that I tried to get rid of) where stars...
