Title: Confusion-FRED 2 Update?

I've got SCP 3.67(latest if im correct)
But where do i get the latest version of FRED2 Open?
Having seen the effects in JAD2, i wanna try the fades, subtitles, etc, ad infinitum..

There never was an official release of FRED2_Open 3.6.7 because at the time FRED wouldn't compile properly. The closest you'll get is this build (http://fs2source.warpcore.org/exes/latest/September2005/20050929-fred2_open.rar) which was released a few days later. You'll need to install OpenAL to get it to work IIRC.

Also, if you're gonna use the FRED build Kara linked to, you're gonna want to use the FSO build that goes along with it, rather than the now out-of-date 3.6.7.

From what I've heard that build should work just fine with 3.6.7. It is only about 3-4 days younger after all.

Cheers all, i've got the aforementioned fred 2 running fine, All SEXPS look great and there a no conflicts with 3.6.7. SO thanks again, The new features are "interesting" to say the least.

Bear in mind that this build is nearly a year old. If you want to work with the newest features you should look in the recent builds forum and grab a newer FS2_Open and FRED2_Open build. Developing with the build you have means that a lot more people will already have a build capable of running your missions but does mean that you can't do certain things that you'll see other people do with more recent versions of FRED.

If you do stick to 3.6.7 avoid the ai-chase-any-except SEXP. It's been depreciated and won't work with newer builds.

Also you may want to check my FAQ's FRED2_Open page for explainations of how to use those new features :)

Much appreciated advice Karojima, I'm "SEXP savvy (TM)" The enw features, i've treid em all, they all look cool, By the way, I've seen footage / screenies of in-flight cockpits, How do i activate them? or is it a seperate feature? :wtf:

In flight cockpits are a table feature rather than something you activate in FRED. I can't remember the exact name of the flag off the top of my head but I think it's "show ship" or something like that. You add that to your ship table and the cockpit becomes visible (Assuming that you only do it to ships which have proper modeled cockpits) :)
