Title: Lag presuit
Post by: Mars on May 20, 2006, 10:36:22 pm
Is there any way to get a ship to chase a ship in a lag presuit curve, as opposed to a leading curve?

I think it might be the "$Predict Position Delay:" in AI_profiles.tbl, but I'm not sure.

Set up a mission and a series of waypoints, then have both ships follow those waypoints on after the other.  Now, they won't to them at full power, and they may not follow it exactly (overshoot a waypoint and have to circle back before moving on.

Problem is, I'm doing this for a turning version of the Mjolnir cannon, not with two moving ships: right now it fires ahead of a moving target, trying to lead it (with what is of course, an instant-hit weapon).

Sorry for  :bump:ing admins.

The Mjolnir looks silly with TerSlash, is there any other way?

What kind of AI does the Mjolnir use? Maybe try switching it to cruiser...

No, it uses cruiser AI, otherwise it couldn't fire the beam

Actually it needs the cruiser AI so it can mount the "big ship" weapons.

I have no idea how you can do that continuosly, but if you only need it once or a few times then (like for a cutscene) simply cheat and make an invisible non-scannible cube and call it plot device#1. Position it ahead of the target ship and have the weapon sexp fire on it.  You may need to fiddle with timing and what not but that is also a possibility... (although a pain in the arse one). Set a way point and have th target ship follow teh cueb around? then at right time have the weapon "locl on" to teh real target and blast teh ship instead of teh cube...?

Hope that helps any...

Only suggested it cause I had to have a cap ship "clipped" partially by a beam and not full on. I positioned a invisible non scannible ship under the target and made thd target invulnerable so thd beam wouldn't kill it. That way it appears SDF-1 "wounds" Khyron with a "Near Miss". A slash beam wouldn't have that effect, and a normal one would just hit full on ruining the effect.

I could've sworn I got a BGreened Ceberus to work, but I think did have some issues with it
