Since you're all render-addicts, i thought i'd share this WIP. I don't have the skill to finnish it myself right now, but i figured i could still get some decent renders out of it.
Probably gonna have to remake it to get it into Freespace, 'cause Fred crasches when i import it. That could be because of XP or bad table entry (i just copied the Pegasus entries and changed it a bit) or i modelled it incorrectly.
I can't texture yet (gonna have to go over the tutorials again), so you're gonna have to settle for this right now. The polycount is 419. It was 300 something before i did that meshsmooth thing on the cockpit.

New version and an old version flying by a binary star.
you can see the differences fairly easy
Idea: Many gun banks, small missile banks, fast.
would be cool to have it carry 2 Helios, but nothing else in the missile banks.

In a nebula somewhere. Shows the model fairly good.
I call it GTx Hameh (any better ideas)
Everything done in 3ds max.
And the critics have it...

That nebula is sweet...

Possibly if the ship works, in FRED2, BUT doesnt work in the FS2 game enviroment, it is possible that it is the TBL. if so, delete some TBL text of ships u dont want and or the extra footnotes. the TBL's have a size limit in the enigne if ur using FS2 version 1.2 and better. i think its 350KB i forgot. if worst comes to worse, its the POF, which is highly unlikely if the fighter/ship shows up in FRED. good luck, would love to have that baby in FS2.

Damn, there are lot of nice models floating around here. I like the design of the ship.

It's Swedish, don't keep quoting it please (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
And I gotta say Ryx, I love that render.
-
It's indeed swedish and I just offered to help Ryx with the model and see if I could find anything wrong with it.
And I had some problems but I got it to work in Fred without crashing.
1. The first thing I did was just add a texture and UVW Map (I don't think POF converter likes ships without textures.)
2. Then I saved the .3ds file in Truespace as a .cob file.
3. Then tried convert it from cob to pof with Pof Con. I got a message: "You forgot to group those objects" (it only contained one object???. When I tried to save it as a pof, Pof Con crashed.
4. So I made 4 lods of the ship and grouped them in Truespace. This time Pof Con liked the model and I could convert and save it as a pof. But when I open it up in Modelview I got "Error 6010: To many points in polygon (>20).
5. When I replaced the Aurora (Babylon project) with the ship it worked in Fred2. I haven't tried it ingame.
I also converted the model with Cob2Pof and it showed up and worked in both Fred2 and Modelview. I don't really know why your version crash in Fred2. I guess Kazan or any other modeller knows more about the error I got.

I had not even thought about trying all this stuff. But if it's working then you must have done something right. I will try it as well.
Thanks man!
