Title: What, exactly....
Post by: aldo_14 on May 27, 2006, 03:22:30 pm
is an 'intense scene of terrorisation'?

And why would you need to be warned about it for a film about a plane that was hijacked and flown into the ground?  Surely you'd, y'know, expect it?

Given that the movie may evoke strong feelings or emotions, I'd say that's the least of your worries. :p

It's the ones with 'mild peril' that get to me.

Mild peril...?

That sounds somehow obscene. Like softcore or something.

Bah. If we're talking stupidity in advisories I think the most idiotic I've seen in a while must be the "No animals were harmed in the filming of this advert" ones in the RSPCA adverts. What kind of idiot needs to be told that an advert proclaiming that the RSPCA are there for abused or neglected animals didn't feel the need to harm animals to make it?

'Mild Peril' always makes me think of Penelope Pitstop with the Anthill Mob rushing to help her...

There was a page somewhere with a list of the stupidest 'cautionary notes'. The ones I remember are "Caution: This floor is slippery when icy" and (on a vending machine) "Note: This machine does not dispense free products".

Best one was the warning on microwaves about not putting pets in them. Think that was in California or somewhere like that...

Oh, Fluffy, if only they'd warned me not to dry you out that way....

Pretty much. Some woman microwaved her pet dry, IIRC, and obviously fluffy got nuked.

Saw one in a pub in Ireland that read 'Unattended Children will be sold into Slavery.'. Thought that was pretty funny :)

Somewhere I saw a picture of a sign over an escalator and all it did was warn people to not hit their heads on the sign. I'll see if I can find it.
