I like your nebulas

Care to post any good techniques you've found?

The poly model is good..pretty tight.  It could do with more texturing in my opinion, however.

Cool stuff- keep it coming  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

well the Enterprise was never the most detailed ship to begin with  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

and i've been thinking of making some on-line tutorials on nebulas, beams, and so on.

Carl: I noticed a few things.

1. The only thing that glows on the Enterprise itself are the running lights and the bussard collectors.

2. What's that red spot on the saucer (to the left of the impulse engines)?

3. Where are the klingons?  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)

1. and the bridge, and the sensor dome, and the windows, and the back of the necelles (ST: The Magazine says so)

2. that's the sunlight passing through the translucent bussard collector, therefore changing it's wavelength to red and casting itself onto the saucer. (go outside in the light with a red lens, then look at where the lense's shadow should be. instead of a shadow, there will be a red disk)

3. the mission of the enterprise is to explore! it isn't fighting klingons all the time! (or i'm just too lazy to make a D7 (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif) )

God, but I love that ship... I know people rip into the series (*looks at the B5 fans*) and it probably deserves some of the criticism it gets... but I LOVE that ole' ship!!

Well, in the pilot ep the bridge is transparent. (the camera passes through the dome and "into" the bridge).  Also, "ST: The Magazine" isn't a canon source.  At most it has an "official" status.  If you look at the back of the nacelles in the actual show, you'll see that they don't glow.  Therefore, the magazine is wrong.  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

yes i have seen them glow in the show, just not always. and the transparent bridge was just and effect. if it was transparent, it would be that way from the inside, but it's obviusly not. besides: *reaches into wallet*

GO THORN!
And here's a quote for you all (off the top off my head too!)
"Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. It's mission, to seek out new life and civilizations, and to boldly go where no one had gone before."
Note the part in bold  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

(http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/rolleyes.gif) "Space - the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. To explore strange, new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no man has gone before."

Note that in the original opening line, it reads "...where no man...", while the NextGen line was changed for "modern" times to read "...where no one..."  (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Anyway...."to boldly go" is bad grammar.
