I'm not fond of the basic design (Pegasus is sooo much sexier from the getgo), but so far it looks infinitely better than the 50 poly menace it once was. Keep up the good work

Also, the cockpit seems to have gotten higher on the nose... probably a good idea, but some purists might object... do you plan on cockpitting this?

I'm reserving my opinion to the end. Better textures are direly needed on this model. HTLing it would be a PITA as it stands.

mmm... something doesn't sit right with me. I think you should make the little... what the hell are those? ribs or wings? -- in the back a little thinner. and a little more organic looking. of course that could be just the way it looks without any textures.

It's the front that looks slightly different, on the main model, it starts as a 3 way split and merges down to a single unfied front, whereas the new model holds onto the 3-foldness all the way through.

Though, as Cobra said, I'm not sure whether that's the textures playing tricks on me.

They're roughly the same, the upper spine is only a little bit more pronounced on the HtL version (the grey blob is te Ptah):

The original had a sort of shield-like thing behind which the bits converged...

And frankly the difference is totally lost in texturing.

Talk to Turambar, he's the one doing the texturing :)
EDIT: And ng1tm1r, I know the shield thing you're talking about. Believe it or not, the front of the model is pretty much the same. I'm working straight off the original :V: model; all the grey is original, all the tan is new. The shield was basically a funky texturing trick.

Here's a screenie of the original and the new, side by side. You can see the shape is almost the same (I've highlighted the poly edges so you can see the outlines better).

The newer one looks a bit more hardened than the original. Needs more splaying-out of the side wings to match original and ought to be more smooth in looks. Right now the edges make it look like some Terrans borked with the Vasudans' design specs...might be good to try rounding them a bit?

Model's looking good, but someone really needs to do a high-res job on that texture to do it justice.

i'm afraid that might have to wait until after the MID-JULY MULTI ONLY RELEASE OF BTRL
im kinda spending all my modding time on that, i'm afraid.
but don't worry about the texs, i started this ptah initiative, i'll see it through

Heck, take your time.  I'm just glad to know that we have talented people out there willing to take these ships on. :)

(I also like the self-pimpage. :p)
